Trade ideas for Derrick Rose

Post#1 » by Chicago-Bull-E » Wed Nov 4, 2015 11:50 pm

Why: the rift between the Bulls and Derrick seems to grow by the day, with windhorst now reporting it. The Bulls seem to be headed in a direction to give Jimmy Butler the reigns.

What the Bulls would be looking for: Adequate point guard and/or starting caliber wing.

What makes it tough: Derrick looks awful so far this year, and has a very large contract.

What makes it easy: Derrick isn't old, his contract expires in 2 years, and his current struggles could be a result of his eye injury. Derrick will also sell tickets.

Additional pieces: Sacramento 1st round pick this year (top ten protected), Bulls 1st, Tony Snell, Taj Gibson.

Good Luck!
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong

I can't see this ending well.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

It's a stretch on the Nets end but

Chicago trades:
Derrick Rose
Higher of SAC, CHI 2016 1sts

Brooklyn trades:
Joe Johnson

Brooklyn gets into the draft and takers a prayer on Rose's health since somehow getting an all-star version of Rose is probably the only way to escape the death spiral they're otherwise headed on the rest of this decade. The plan becomes 2017 free agency instead of 2016 free agency

Jazz offer you cap and maybe Trey Burke for the favor of taking his contract off your hands.
Ingles is cooked.

The teams I could see going with a plan to develop cap space for the 2017 free agency while using Derrick Rose's contract as a means to do so with the potential to get the "Good Derrick Rose" in the meantime are:

Brooklyn
Charlotte
Dallas
L.A. Lakers
Milwaukee
New Orleans
Philadelphia
Sacramento (If Rondo is a total bust)

What they would offer? I have no idea, I assume a really bad contract, one of the positions you want in return (SF/PG) and fillers for Rose and the Kings pick.

Headed in the right direction but BKN would want more to take on Rose. Probably both picks and maybe more.

I could see this being a perfect Hinkie move where he gets Derrick Rose, a 2016 Lottery Protected Chicago Bulls First Round Draft Pick and the top 10 protected Kings First Round Draft Pick while dumping Carl Landry and using some of his non-core young pieces to fill the gap cap-wise and incentive wise for Chicago.

Either Derrick Rose is a total bust, the 76ers have MAX cap space again in 2017 while their own pick is valuable or Derrick Rose comes back strong giving Philly their franchise player Hinkie always wanted. Etiher way they get two first round draft picks and dump Carl Landry.

I could totally see the Nets taking the chance on Rose by extending their cap space until a deeper 2017 free agency class and adding draft picks that they sorely lack while the Bulls would get a solid, savvy locker-room vet in Joe Johnson that expires this off-season.

The obsession people have when peoples value are at an all time low. You never sell low.

As said many times, the Bulls aren't selling low on Derrick Rose. If anything, they'd wait until his contract year to sell him if his value jumps. No point in trading Derrick Rose for garbage.

Agreed, but that's not what this thread is requesting.

This is just like saying my team will never give up assets to dump a contract. You may not like it but acting like it never happens is kidding yourself.

Rose + Gibson for JJ (Johnson) + JJ (Jack)
*Throw in picks as needed.

Nets gamble on Rose and get some needed defense in Gibson.

Bulls should have some really quality cap space next offseason to try and attract a big name player.

This thread is going to have a short leash.

Bulls fans are going to like being lowballed. And no one is going to offer much value. Just keep it civil guys.

Monta/Budinger/JHill/SHill for Rose/Portis? I'd love to take the chance on Rose and play him with George Hill and Paul George on the wings. A good amount of cap space this summer with only Monta, a useful player, sticking around after? Way off?

I think you would love to take a chance on Portis
I think it's pretty good value wise if they want a decent player back (Monta), but can't see them using Portis to move Rose.

Brooklyn seems to make the most sense since they have no point guards and are always looking for stars.

Like most have mentioned, it'd include Joe Johnson and Chi would need a PG so Jarret Jack as well, which means Gibson would be included to balance salary and maybe McDermott could be thrown in depending on his perceived value which seems to be going up this season.

Its funny, I was just thinking about this from a Philly perspective earlier today.

I think either of the deals mentioned, where Philly gives up Landry and some small fillers (Wroten/Canaan/Thompson/Sampson) to bring in Rose and some incentive (above mentioned picks) could really work.
