I know that would mean EG is admitting that he made the wrong selection in the draft, but he has to know by now that Portis would not only help this team now, but he would fill in our biggest hole....the PF position. I think Chicago would do it as well since they have too many PF's and Portis isn't going to see the light of day. If they are going to have a rookie ride the pine for the foreseeable future, it might as well be Oubre since he has a higher upside than Portis and would fill a weaker position at SF.
With all that said, I know it ain't going to happen.
As I was watching Dubs-Clips last night, I was thinking about Oubre. The Warriors just won an NBA title and are the league's best team on the strength of several interchangeable wings that allow them to switch everything on defense and spread the floor on offense. They have no "post scoring" to speak of. Rather, they get layups and dunks of of cuts and pick and rolls created by all of the space.
Oubre has shown elite defensive potential. What if on balance he grows into as good a player as Harrison Barnes or Igoudala?
How on earth do you defend Wall, Beal, Oubre, Porter and Durant as a unit in 2-3 years? Defensively, they have crazy length and athleticism that can cause the same swarming and switching nightmares that fuel Golden State's defensive dominance. Mix on Satoransky and Gortat for some nice versatility.
