Harley-Davidson still makes the most sense for naming rights. Tho I don't see that happening.

Harley's numbers haven't been good so I think it would be tough for them to do.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yeah, Harley was recently forced to lay off a lot of people.

Agreed. That's why I said I don't see it happening.

Some solid details in this Mary Louise Schumacher piece:

http://www.jsonline.com/entertainment/arts/bucks-reveal-teaser-images-of-new-arenas-interior-b99611490z1-342646192.html
The Milwaukee Bucks have kept images of the planned new arena pretty close to the vest since they were first — and partially — revealed in April.

But it's hard to have a big party celebrating a new building without a few optics.

So the Bucks released two teaser images of the arena during a "Build the Future" community tailgate event Saturday outside the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The two renderings are interior views — one of the bowl, or seating areas around the court, and the other of the east-facing lobby.

In an interview before Saturday's event, Bucks officials revealed a few additional details about the project. They said they hope to have at least 10,000 fixed seats in the lower tier of the arena, considerably more than the configuration for basketball games at the Bradley Center.

Because of a "more aggressive" geometry, the seating should feel considerably more intimate, said Bucks spokesman Jake Suski. And seats in both the lower and upper tiers will be accessed from above, Suski added.

Something that's just hinted at in the renderings is how much of the seating areas will be open to the concourses, particularly at the corners. The hope is for the northern end of the arena to be open to the exterior views from the building, Bucks officials said.

This should create more transparent, continuous and social spaces for fans, which should be a huge psychological shift from the punched-through entry ways from the concourse to the Bradley Center bowl, what the architects call "vomitory" holes.

As for the lobby atrium, there were a few additional details. The atrium area likely will be about 80 feet high, with a grand staircase and terrazzo floors. Some of the main columns are angled to give the space a more dynamic feel, Suski said.

While the exterior materials appear white in the lobby rendering, that is misleading, Suski said. The Bucks are considering a treated zinc for the exterior that is very unusual in terms of its patina. Many people think of the newest zinc surfaces being used by architects as grayish or dark, but the Bucks are looking at a warmer, golden hue, Bucks officials said.

That warm palette also can be seen in the wood-like surfaces in the lobby rendering.

Suski said the architects, particularly Brad Clark of Populous in Kansas City and Greg Uhen of Eppstein Uhen in Milwaukee, are still working on the arena's design, which could continue to change based on stakeholders' feedback. The Bucks plan to release more detailed renderings in 60 to 90 days.

The 2 pictures that were revealed tonight were pretty lame and generic looking.

Yeah. It's to the point that I'm starting to believe that they are absolutely shocked that they got the arena. Building the damn thing seems to have been out of sight out of mind.

I dunno, it looked to me like the corners are going to be skylights, which would be pretty cool. I mean, I know that the vast majority of games are at night, but being able to see out into the city from inside the bowl will be neat. Of course, maybe that's not what's going on in those corners, maybe it's just some sort of weird lighting.

The NBA has tremendous and ever-increasing reach globally. There is little worth in having a local company secure the naming rights when larger companies such as Fanduel or American Airlines could be eyeing naming rights.

yea i'm guessing it's going to be a bigger player buying the naming rights. northwestern and harley have the money, but northwestern is already doing a ton with the ncaa, and harley doesn't really need to advertise much (though their reported numbers weren't good this past quarter).

i would personally reach out companies in china. thousands of those companies have more money than they know what to do with, and asia is the fastest growing basketball market in the world. there's really no reason the naming rights have to be a local place. get the most $$$ possible.

but this is just another perk of having world class businessmen as your owners. you know they're going to get a good deal.

We so need a leak on arena plans. My guess is that they are severely pressed to get this under (their) budget and while they don't want to radically change the visuals of the design, they don't want to go over.

Anyone else notice the recent Harley-Davidson sponsorship on the one end? Interesting that they pulled out of Miller Park and now are seen at the BMO for the first time, that I can remember.

Despite Harley's sales downturn, they are still plenty big enough to peel off $4/5 million a year for a naming rights deal. The NBA is an international brand as is Harley. Harley has to get into a younger demographic market. I still think this makes sense.
