^ it would be awesome if we could get them to take on Hawes. Doubt it though

Read an interesting idea on the trade board. Bulls trade Derrick Rose and 2016 1st rd. pick for Kemba and Marvin. Rose may benefit from scenery change and give Charlotte that superstar name in the lineup. Rose is signed through next year, which means his contract happens to expire at the same time as Steph Curry. Would be nice if they took Hawes instead of Marvin, but I doubt it

I wouldn't touch rose unless we get loads of assests, knowing our luck as soon as he steps on the court he breaks his leg and misses the next 3 seasons. i would require portis, 2 1sts and McBuckets to take him.

I'd offer Spencer Hawes, Marvin Williams, Roberts, and Lin for Rose, a 1st, and McBuckets. I absolutely don't trade Kemba for him. I'd throw them a bunch of leftovers, plus Lin (since they'd need someone to start) and ask for assets.

Chicago obviously just waits out the final two years of Rose's contract, but if they were really finished with him, this is what I'd offer. If they don't like it, then move on.

You guys know they wouldn't touch any of those proposals. I mean would you if the situation was flipped?

That's why I said that Chicago obviously just waits out the final two years of Rose's deal. There's a 0.01% chance they like that deal.

I would guess Phil Jackson is eyeballing Rose. Rose is a big market player and the Knicks have cap space. I don't think they would ask for assets in return. So if the Bulls want to dump the contract they will have teams like the Knicks lining up.

The SG position is costing us the most wins. I hope teams like the T-Wolves and Pelicans aren't expecting to get 1st rounders for guys like Kevin Martin and Eric Gordon.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but would be curious to see some statistical evidence for that. Do you blame offense or defense?

It's more process of elimination. While our offense outperforms our defense, I don't see us losing individual defense at any one position that offense doesn't cover. I think PJ as a starter is our biggest weakness. Not many playoff teams will have to give minutes to a player of his caliber.

How are you conducting the process of elimination? I'm just curious what actual metric you are using other than low FG%.

I view our second unit as much more of the culprit. How often has our starting unit been responsible for us losing leads or falling behind? PJ's role is essentially be disruptive on defense for 15 MPG and shoot opportunistically when left open, but otherwise keep the ball moving on offense. I think that's all that he's needed to do and he's been fine at that.

I don't think you can blame any of our losses on him. He's had a positive +/- our last three games, and the first ATL game is the only one that he had the lowest +/- of our starters, and even that was only -5 (compared to Cody at -26, Hawes at -13, and Lamb at -10).

I have a hard time buying the argument that the biggest weakness of this team is an SG that plays 15 MPG and generally has had a positive +/-, and not our second unit that has generally posted very poor +/- stats and given up huge runs in each of our losses that our first unit has had to battle back from.

That may very well be the case but your analysis is of an entire unit comprised of multiple players. I stated SG is our weakest position and I mean "position" singularly whereas a unit is plural. If I could fix a unit in the trade thread I might try. But again, I'd like to upgrade the SG position.

I assume you like Lamb and don't think he is the problem.

So either PJ is somehow responsible for our second unit falling apart despite never playing with our second unit, or he is not responsible for our losses. I don't see a way around that conclusion.

Lamb is ok but he is not someone you ride on a playoff team.

Look we are talking about two different things.

I am talking about the weakest position while you are talking about team weakness which I think comes more down to roster construction, coaching, chemistry, etc. multiple factors.

By no means am I suggesting upgrading SG would solve our biggest weakness. It would definitely improve our weakest position though.

if I'm looking to improve the team, Sg is probably the first place I look as well.

Same. Eric Gordon would be ideal as far as who might actually be available. Id be fine with K-Mart but he is too one dimensional and too big of a defensive liability to get me too excited.

I'd just be looking for a wing that can defend. Batum can play either position, but we have no defense anywhere on the roster- I'd pay a little extra for a guy like James Johnson.

The +/- numbers strongly suggest playing Cody and Hawes together is killing our second unit. I think changing our starting SG wouldn't impact that.

I'm more patient than most, but something has to be done about our big rotation because it's not working.

Playing Hawes period is becoming rather ridiculous.

I think Phil is steering clear from some of the Knicks old business practices and has an obvious direction with where this team is going forward. A move for Rose is just repeating all the mistakes of our past.

2 guys that Phil will be targeting that Cap Space will be 2 players of interest for you guys...guys like Nicolas Batum and Harrison Barnes are the types of players we're looking at. Obviously, the Durant's, COnley's and Horford's of FA are getting the major looks...but Phil isn't going all-in on Derrick Rose when there are plenty of other options and our young guns like Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant have looked very good so far this season.
