What is your optimal lineup, rotation, and minutes distribution?
I'm curious, if you could make the decision on who plays together, when people sub in and out, and how many minutes each player gets, what would you do? (And of course, only use the current players on the team...yes our optimal lineup would be Curry, Harden, Durant, LeBron and AD).
On another note, if I held a contest to see who could guess the 5 man unit with the best +/- ratio so far this year, no one would win. No one in a million years would guess the right answer without looking it up. When you run it, try not to spoil it in this thread for others...let them look it up and experience the shock for themselves.
Here it is.... http://stats.nba.com/league/lineups/#!/?sort=PLUS_MINUS&dir=1&Season=2015-16&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&TeamID=1610612756
If it doesn't come up with just Suns rotations, click on the wheel on the right, and then pick Phoenix Suns under team on the left, and click "Run it"
You'd also probably be surprised at what is our worst lineup...the one outscored the most while on the court together.

The lineup at the top only played a few minutes at garbage time in one game.
Of the lineups with real PT the best one is actually our starters, the second best swaps Chandler and PJ for Lauer and TJ.

Teletovic and Goodwin completely out of the rotation. Price would play some minutes here and there.

Bledsoe 34/ Price 8/ Goodwin 2
Knight 32/ Booker 10/ Weems 6
TJ 30/ PJ 15/ Goodwin 3
Leuer 15/ Kieff 30/ Tele 3
Chandler 25/ Len 23
TJ to start, Leuer to start, Booker more minutes. Len gets minutes with Kieff who have shown they can have good chemistry and passing previously. Kieff becomes the leader of the 2nd unit, which is pretty killer defensively. Starters keep parity with other teams starters, our bench kills the other bench. It's a risk, but I would very much like to see how it plays out. We need Kieff to get his % and confidence up, and I think playing against 2nd units will help that. He will still get big minutes so he will play against starters plenty, but I think this will change the balance and player rotations. Being benched could make him a distraction though for ego reasons. It might be a hard sell, but I wouldn't do it for penalty reasons but rather to beef that bench up as much as possible. It would be hard for a player to believe that, but that's why I would do it in this case. PJ on the other hand...TJ is just outplaying him right now, IMO.
BTW, Bledsoe has been bringing it every night so far. 22ppg, 6rpg, 6apg, 2spg, 45%FG 35%3P% in 34 mins. If he somehow keep that up, he will have to be in the All-Star conversation. Hoping that "If" holds true.

Bledsoe 36/ Knight 12
Knight 22/ Archie 14/ Booker 12
PJ 18/ TJ 26/ Booker 4
Keef 34/ Leuer 14
Chanlder 28/ Len 20
We have our 3 best scorers in the starting lineup, so I'd like to keep having TJ come of the bench, just increase his minutes. I also prefer to give minutes to Archie and Devin rather than Price and Weems (especially Weems).
I would really like to see Archie play a lot more. I want the team to make a decision on him this year, he's either part of the future or he's not. If he is, he needs to start playing, if he's not, we need to move him.

Yeah, I knew it was only 5 minutes. I still found it funny. I also noticed our starters outscore opponents by a good margin too.

That sounds about right. I think TJ and Leuer are the right combo as well as Tucker and Morris. Because Morris and TJ both play a lot of mid range they don't really fit as well together offensively.

I remember a lot of the board used to complain about D'Antoni's short rotations (7-8 players). I actually wouldn't mind seeing our guys playing close to 40 minutes per game.

Why would anyone want Weems or Goodwin to get minutes over Booker, I don't get it.

Because some people, myself included, don't believe his defense is at an NBA level.
Bled 30 / Price 17 / Knight 1 (literally 1 minute is all he gets

Knight 31 / Bled 6 / (One of Book/Weems/Archie) 11
Warren 30 / PJ 18
Kieff 30 / Leuer 10 / PJ 8
Chandler 28 / Len 20

We need more offense and shooting than we do defense. And Weems hasn't been some stud defender either.

Agree, but I also agree with Horny that we're better shooters than we're currently showing. Our shot selection has been atrocious and that in part comes down to how poorly we've been executing.
I just think Book is that bad defensively that even an average NBA defender like Price (or above average) or Weems is better for the team.

Definitely, right now Booker is so lost on defense. He'll get it in time, and probably sooner rather than later as he seems pretty smart.

I agree with you. We have to the tools to be better offensively but right now we're average in both defense and offense. We're not playing to our strengths.
