I don't either.

Yeah he had a couple of turnovers, but he also hit some big 3's that kept us in the game.

Some strange analysis in this thread. Losses tend to make people think irrationally.

It was timely though. Trigger a run for them that we could never recover from and lost us the lead. His turnovers weren't just him dribbling out of bounds either. Directly handed them fast break points.

I think most people have $8 Million reasons. If he was being paid $2 mil per year, then they would have loved his effort and stats last night.

wouldn't people only have $6m reasons if $2m is acceptable? :D

And, fans would be jumping for joy screaming "Bargain" at his 16pts/8rbds and how we got the steal of free agency.

Frye also got us 8 rebounds and his presence in the pick n roll got us a bunch of great looks, people keep saying that he was bad on defense, can anyone actually point to all of those times where his defense was bad?

I re watched the 22 mintues he played, he made 2 mistakes, one in the first where a pick n roll between Stucky and Turner resulted in Stucky making the pocket pass to Turner and another one in the 2nd where he decided to ice the pick n roll but was late coming back, thats it! , the rest were mistakes by other players and simply good shots by the Pacers.

Not that I've seen after rewatching the game. People just generalize when they hate a player. A couple of defensive lapses = horrible defense the whole game.

There is no denying that Frye's sequence where he made a couple of mistakes changed the dynamic of the game. Its the NBA, a game can be lost in 45 seconds, especially on a night when the roster is depleted and the team is struggling to put the ball in the basket.

Other things contributed to the loss, but it is doubly painful when the careless mistakes are made by the veteran player.

My theory with Frye is that its not so much the mistakes that he makes, but that he is unable or possibly unwilling to cover up other's mistakes. Its the key reason Frye is a statistical darling - all his actions on the floor protect or juice his #'s.

I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Is his safe play conducive to wins?

When Dedmon makes a mistake, shortly after he consistently compensates by a great help defense or some other hustle play to recover the momentum. When Frye makes a mistake it just hangs there in the negative....just a theory

My only problem with Frye last night: he was out there for too long in the 4th quarter.

Other than that, he did OK.

Frye's sequence put us down 8 with 4 minutes to go, all while providing no defense prior to that. With the team unable to score all night that was insurmountable.

We've got 2 games coming up that can get us back up to 5-5. This was a tough outing. I'm not sure that we can attribute tonight to any one player or sequence. I was disappointed with a lot of what I saw too, but some nights we're just going to look bad. We're still young and went up against a vet team with a superstar and a very, very good starter in G. Hill. Keep pushing, and stay on the wagon fellas. It's much more rewarding when you stick with it. We definitely have a good chance against LA and Utah.

Honestly could of used more AG and less Frye. Anyone know when J Smith and Vuc return? Never thought I'd be so happy to have Smith on our team. He's a really momentum changing pickup.
The future is bright 8-) Payton said. ``I just want to keep getting better and maybe one day I can be the all-time all assists leader for the Magic.’’

j_n wrote:The problem with the 2 units is that all of the guys that can run the pick n roll or consistently create a shot for themsleves are starting while the second unit has no one that can do either, we cant have Watson, Gordon or Hezonja running our offense, they can play off other players but no one can create for them in that unit.

I think eventually we will realize that and bring Harris or Oladipo off the bench, Harris might be a better player than Gordon but as a 5th starter Gordon is better and Harris is more reliable than anyone on the 2nd unit when it comes to creating his own shot.

Oladipo could also work in the second unit running the pick n roll with Dedmon/Frye while Watson, Hezonja and Smith/Frye spacing the floor for him.

Gordon actually is and always has been a really good passer out of the pick and roll. With his improved jumper, he probably wouldn't be a bad option in that role. Of course we'll never find out on this team. We simply refuse to develop this guy at all.

Of course they can, but those particular plays didn't imo. What did, was missing point blank layups and an overall poor effort from some of out "better" scorers.

Gosh daring to heck, I am still frustrated with this game's outcome !!!!

Edit.

From the O-Sen:
Coach Scott Skiles was asked if he felt the club took a step back after Monday night's lackluster loss in Indianapolis against the Pacers. "Yes, for sure," he said after Tuesday's practice at Amway Center. "It's exactly how we feel."
