I thought the refs let the game get to rough. jj got knocked down twice and has a back problem. blake was being mugged constantly. the moving screens were horrible and so on. but with that being said we lost because dallas could not miss. I do not see lance working out and would prefer wes or pp starting. with the stagger of starters it might be a better plan. I am starting to get worried.

We couldn't do much to stop Dallas, Dirk and Wes couldn't miss. I didn't help that JJ left the game with back spasms. We still had a chance down the stretch but had a few turnovers before the game was out of reach. Hopefully we step up today and Chris shoots better.

So far he's doing #2, but he did struggle with his shooting to start last season also.

The bench needs a PG, someone to calm guys down and distribute the ball properly, they might benefit from going with

Pablo / Rivers / Pierce / Smith / Aldrich

...also get some more size in there and take Smith out of C.

Defense was not so good, though sometimes you play good defense and a team is just on fire.

Pierce actually had a decent game tonight

You're right, he did. I hope it continues.

I would actually prefer Doc to start Paul / Johnson / Pierce / Blake / DJ with Redick out tonight, though I'm not sure Johnson matching up against little guards like Knight or Bledsoe would be too fun for him.

Doc's rotations are back to WTF worthy and we arent even 10 games in.

Look, I love Pierce and know Doc trusts Crawford, but the last two games we had Pierce (25 mins 0-5 vs. Memphis) and Crawford (last night) playing the majority of the minutes at SF.

Wes Johnson deserves more minutes and Stephenson should get some burn late in the 2nd half. Doc has all kinds of permutations for lineups this season, but is still refusing to unleash them.

The frustration continues.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I hate to say it, but i'm really not having a lot of fun watching the games these days. I get a lot more frustration and annoyance watching doc constantly fudge up what should be simple adjustments.

I really thought that doc, with his newfound roster, was going to be slotting certain guys in for certain situations. Wasn't that supposed to be the point? With a bunch of guys able to handle multiple roles, he has access to a toolkit that most other coaches don't have. But instead he's dumbed it down and relegated everything into a base first unit and base second unit. The lack of creativity is astounding. You kind of also get the feeling that if crawford didn't exist on this team that doc might actually go through with some of this stuff.

I know some guys out there might think it's a bit too early to complain about this kind of stuff. We just had a fairly long discussion about it. But so far doc's continued to mostly run the same units out there, save for when guys were injured/minutes restricted/whatever. If i saw doc putting random dudes out there tactically and it didn't work? Great, fine, totally acceptable. I love that kind of stuff. But continually putting the same units out there and getting the same results without any progress is not doing anything for us.

The players are there but Doc refuses to innovate. The small ball 2nd unit has been a disaster so far why not have a 3rd lineup with Cole Aldrick and Prigioni on the floor? Why is CJ Wilcox in the D League? To me he should be given a look especially since JJ is hurt and imo he should be ahead of Crawford on the depth chart. Wes Johnson has been solid so why is Jamal playing the 3 late in games instead of him or Lance??? Hell I would love to experiment with Lance at point and Austin at the 2 for the second unit. There's literally so many options and combos to try when small ball isn't working but Doc is on that same old bullsh*t. I honestly wish we had another coach. I don't think Doc will allow us to win

They're acting like it's the equivalent of LeBron leaving Cleveland, or hell, even what Elton Brand did to us. They should actually feel relieved that they're not paying so much money to an athleticism-only player like DJ, who has barely improved at all despite being in the league for eight seasons now. If I were a free agent, I'd feel wary about even considering Dallas if this is how they handle rejection.

Dallas came out as the big winners in this scenario anyway. Zaza Pachulia for $5.2 million >>>>>>>> DJ on a max contract. The Mavs really dodged a bullet.

Completely understand where you are coming from. The thing is, we're not really mad that we missed out on DeAndre particularly... but had he made up his mind that he was going to stay in LA earlier we could've kept Tyson Chandler and/or Monta Ellis, and gone out looking for other good free agents. There was just nothing left when we got snubbed. He basically wrecked our season. I think it's fair to say that we're over it now though. We got our feel good win, now it's time to move on.

i know how you feel

everytime i see jamal checking into the game, touch the ball or be guarding the ball handler, instant feeling of "oh well this possession's lost" or "oh well that guy is likely going to score"

everytime a 3 goes up by Josh Smith or Austin Rivers evokes a similar feeling (even though smith is shooting a decent percentage, but i don't think he'll maintain it)

the games literally turn into watching the clock until blake or cp comes back in, just like at the end of last season
