Batum seriously tried to throw an oop to Kemba...

In so many ways.
(Although I'm pretty sure Frank bathes regularly. He looks like he'd be partial to some Old Spice).

I really hated the pick mainly because of this... but he is a better shooter than I thought. If he puts on some pounds, he should be able to carve out a Mirotic-like role. hopefully with less Byron Mullens-esque shooting numbers though
I think he'll max out at a Bargnani type.

Bargnani is the stupidest defender I have ever seen, Frank seems to have some awareness but is just too weak at the moment. Clifford has been saying all year, he gets pushed around too much.
He just needs to eat fried chicken and lift heavy things for the year.

If MKG was injured prior to the draft we probably would have Winslow

Hawes or Al? Pick your poison. Kemba was active and fighting and Lin seemed out of sync so he subbed for Lin. Lamb didn't exactly carry us. Batum did. But Lamb sunk some shots and then sort of went cold. It was a good Lamb performance but not the really good ones we saw in previous games. Batum hit a lot of big 3s. He played really well. But, Chicago got the bounces, home cooking with the refs, and Zeller was very much missed.

Yep, good points. I realized after I posted this that Cody would have probably been in the game if he was active.

Clifford seems to have gotten over a mental hurdle about Al sucking and not needing to be in the game if he isn't producing, even if his replacement is Hawes. We can only hope, that at some point, he reaches the same point with Kemba, who actually has a legitimate backup now. No need to continue to let him do dumb things over and over when theres a nice spot on the bench right beside Al with his name on it.

The worst part is at the other end of the floor. He's always been a sub par defender but at least you knew you were going to get a crafty and efficient 20 points from him going the other way.
Now when he gets the ball, even on his left block, he looks like he has no idea what to do with it.
So he can't defend, he can't score, he's doesn't pass like a Duncan and he sure as sh*t can't set screens.
He looks utterly lost.

If we unpackage the events before the draft it's easier to guess the thought process.
June 13 Al opts in to his contract which likely signified the end for Biz
June 15 with Al frontcourt spacing was needed so they traded for Hawes errr shipped Lance.
June 24 Cody and Vonleh were being dangled looking for a sg and sf. Batum is acquired.
June 25 draft day Lamb is acquired for peanuts
Within 24 hours a weakness turned into a strength with Batum, MKG, and Lamb as wings. I also believe they had every intention of trading both Vonleh and Zeller not just one to acquire the 4th wing. That made the Kaminsky pick an obvious choice given Winslow is a bad shooter and possibly buried on the bench. Or at least it wasn't about Kam and Winslow but the result of the previous 24 hours acquiring Lamb and Batum with Zeller still being shopped.

Re: GT: Hornets vs Bulls Fri Nov 13 8PM EST
We really needed a interior defender and a capable PnR big man. Cody's absence really accented the issue, but even with him, the lack of PnR play is limiting our offensive power.
I really don't think we need Al's contribution on the offensive end with so many offensive threats already on the team, and he rarely has a good game offensively anyways since his play style is just so out of place with the new team identity. His defense is just terrible regardless of how well he scores, and that's a big problem for us. We would do a lot better with an athletic defending big who can do PnR with our guards and wing players.
A Tyson Chandler type of player would be perfect, or if Cody can develop some PnR skills and can finish above the rim.

I can't believe Gasol was nailing those 15fters so consistently. And we rely way too much on iso scoring. Batum jumpers. Lamb jumpers. Kemba jumpers. Al post-up jumpers.

Re: GT: Hornets vs Bulls Fri Nov 13 8PM EST
I was glad Clifford got a T in the second half. Whistles for the Bulls started early in Q1 - a charge by Pau that went as a foul against PJ, a tip in by Noah that was a goaltend - but I thought evened out after Cliff's T.
Batum was fantastic on offense, could have had 30+ if he didn't start the game missing a few easy shots. Butler seemed to run him over in the second half - we miss MKG in a matchup like this - but I am not complaining, it's great to have a basketball player like Batum on this team. Amazes me he's still only 26.
Al's defense - I don't know how Cliff stands it, really. The way he just doesn't react to guys driving to the rim, the way he can't bother to follow his man away from the paint - it's unbelievable.
Exciting to have Lamb on this team, gives us a young SG with legit upside. He showed his youth with a couple indecisive plays that ended in turnovers and got toasted by E'twan Moore, but that 8 pt burst to pull CHA even was sweet and hopefully just the beginning.
Why is Spencer Hawes considered a 3 pt shooter? Not only are they not going in, his shooting stroke is butt ugly.
I thought Frank looked fine for a rookie. His shot wasn't falling but he made plays. He got bodied by Taj Gibson, but when he settles down and on night's when his shot is falling he's going to be a real asset to the team.
I also think the way PJ is playing is commendable. Butler beat him once or twice but did most of his damage against Marvin and Batum. PJ hit a couple 3s, if those start dropping I think he's a pretty good 3& d guy. Short term I like the role Clifford's given him. He's 22.
Surprise of the night: Troy Daniels getting some burn! Almost fell off the couch, is Cliff loosening up? Next thing you know we'll see him send Hansbrough out to guard Taj Gibson. I don't think Troy is a rotation player, but in short bursts of microwave offense he's perfect.
I know people poke fun at moral victories, but I really expected the Bulls to blow us out in this game, so I saw lots of silver linings that this was a competitive game. Had some unlucky rim action, Frank, Lamb and Batum all having chippies bounce in and out, a late 3 by Kemba did the same. Butler on the other end had a shot bounce high and drop to give them the 5 pt lead at the end. This team has been competitive against elite defenses (ATL, MIA, SA) and top tier teams (CHI).

Good point. Charlotte has a plus rating against this. Take away the loss to Charlotte and only the Knicks have a record below .500 and just barely at 4-5.
Atlanta 8-3

Lamb hit a couple shots to bring us back early in the 4th right before I posted this. He cooled off immediately after. Batum definitely carried us throughout the game.

Why does Clifford suddenly become a creative master at managing rotations when someone gets injured?
