The East closing the gap on the West?

Raptors are kinda on the decline with Carroll announcing he has a chronic injury which will force him to sit out throughout the season...

Casey is avoiding playing James Johnson meaning we're in for a long season with Ross playing more minutes. Lowry's performance so far might not be sustainable as we've seen in the past while DeRozan might realize he's best off hogging the ball to boost up his numbers heading into free agency. Only real bright spot is Cory Joseph who is a better piece than I thought with his ability and leadership.

Its not about comparing east v west teams, but I could see the east's top 8 teams being closer to the all-50 win top 8 the west always has every year.

I think the west still has more legit contenders but the quality of depth of good teams in the east appears to be improving

The West really doesn't look that great outside of the top 8 as opposed to prior years... after that you have Memphis? and Dallas...
Every other team is pretty bad.

On Nov 7 of 2014, the East was 5-14 vs the West. As of today the East is 12-10 vs the West. It is a good start, but let's wait at least till Christmas before we can say if the East is going to be at least comparable with the West.

Is there an easy way to keep track of this or is it all basically sort thru the data and count? I couldn't find the right filter at nba.Com

I'm sure there is, but I haven't found it. Went game by game and day by day to determine record. That's pretty easy now, but would be an arduous task as the season goes on.

That's what all other teams think too when they play the Lakers.

Obviously the West is still better, but East was also screwed the last few years by injury.

Paul George being out turned the Pacers into a lower tier Eastern team. Bosh and his blood clot along w/ McRoberts tear screwed the Heat over. DRose being injured obviously lowers the Bulls chances, but they were still a decent team. Now that these players are healthy, the East has a much better looking top 8 than last year. If teams like New Orleans and Memphis continue to dip, the gap will be closing much more. Thunder also don't look quite as good as they used to be, but that could change.

If you want to follow interconference records, a short easy way to do it is to follow the link below to the expanded standings. You just need to add up the column that says "vs west" for every team. There may be a faster way but that's simple enough

It's 24-19 East now. Would be worse but the Kings have been holding serve at home against the Nets of the world.

I don't think anyone disputes that 3 of the top 4, or 4 of the top 5, teams may be in the west. But historically, the disparity was always perceived among teams 5 through 10. I dare say that teams like the Pistons, Pacers, Bucks, and Magic are better than their west counterparts this year. Teams like the Jazz, Nuggets, and Mavericks are falling back.

At the very least, the east is holding off all of the asinine realignment discussions for the time being.

After 2-3 West still have Davis, Durant, Westbrook, Curry, Harden, Griffin, Lillard, Cousin, Leonard in primes, young stars Wiggins, Towns. What about East? Old LJB, Drumond, Irwing, Butler, George, young Okafor, Wall...thats is all.

a lot of East teams are improving. A lot of West teams are declining.

There's 12 teams in the East who are 1 game under 500 or better..First time since 1999 that conference isn't a total embarrassment to basketball..

Well, the West went 3-0 tonight but it was the top of the west (at home) against the bottom of the east. And the Nets came within an eyelash of beating the Warriors.

It's early but Vegas is on board with the East redemption story and that's telling. 6 interconference games tomorrow (Sunday, November 15). The East team is favored in all of them except for the Celtics @ the Thunder. This includes the Raptors and Pistons who are playing on the road. It will be an interesting day for anyone who's following the east vs west dynamic so far this year.
