Temple and Blair for Booker?

Not as good as Temple for Gobert, but if they're going to play hardball, I guess that'll do. Another PF who can hit from long to offset Dudley's absence and keep Nene (hopefully) at backup C, while freeing a roster spot.

Nice idea. It opens a roster spot and really pigeon-holes Nene into the backup C role.

Sign Temple Long Term

Post#62 » by milellie111 » Sun Nov 15, 2015 2:26 am

Whenever Beal goes down, this guy comes thru. Even last year. Great mix of defense, hustle and scoring when needed. Beal may continue to go down in the future that's why Temple needs to be locked up to a long term deal this offseason. A reasonable deal of course but he's proven himself to be an asset.

Cap room is the issue. Extending him now would crimp our cap room for KD2DC. If he can be had again for the vet minimum, then the proper course of action is to sign all of the big money free agents we're going to sign and get up to the cap limit. We can then exceed the cap with the vet minimum exception. Temple is clearly one of the guys we would target with a vet minimum exception.

Nate, the problem is that if he plays this year at the same productivity level as last, he's likely to earn himself a better offer than vet minimum.

Of course, he hasn't done that yet. Or, rather, so far so good -- but he's only played 67 minutes.
