Re: Around the NBA 8.0
Random thought, but I caught the end of the Bulls - Pacers game last night. Even though the Pacers lost, PG is just so impressive. Would anyone prefer Jimmy Butler over Paul George given the option to choose one of the two to build a team around?

I've always considered Butler to pretty much be the poor man's version of George so I'll at least say - no.

What are their contracts like?
All things even I take George but if Butler is something like $4mil a year cheaper then that would be cause for pause for me.

The Pelicans are 1-10. Love seeing that team fall apart.

I haven't seen post injury PG other than their game against us so I can't say, but I would without a doubt take pre-injury PG over Butler. I think hes actually the better defender and he definitely has more offensive skill imo.

TOR gets a very questionable illegal screen call on their last possession with twenty seconds to go down one against GSW. Tough break for them.

What a shame. McHale isn't a very good coach, but OTOH he is not the main reason for their **** performance. IMO, Harden is the biggest culprit.

Re: Around the NBA 8.0
A head coach got fired 11 games into the season. Wow. And to think McHale got fired ahead of Byron Scott.

Do we have the capspace to sign Whiteside and resign Batum this offseason?

My man Gary Harris actually producing a little in his sophomore campaign.

From that piece...
Nevertheless, the Rockets are pushing for results now, and several elite coaches with Rockets ties in the past – including Jeff Van Gundy and Tom Thibodeau – could lurk as future candidates. Another strong candidate with Houston ties, Charlotte’s Steve Clifford, could be a free agent this summer.
Think Clifford is pure speculation. It doesn't really make sense to fire McHale now if they want to wait until next summer to hire Clifford.
ETA: also this...

I really hope so.
Whiteside is my 'crush' for the '16 FA season. At 26 years old, he's putting up better numbrers this year, than last. Averaging 15 & 12, along with 4.6 blocks per game. Rumors are that he could push for max money this summer if he keeps up his pace.
Being a Gastonia-native, I've got two questions for the masses.
1 - To piggyback off of the OP - Can we re-sign Batum and bring in Whiteside?
2 - How would he fit into our core of Kemba/Batum/MKG/Frank moving forward?
A starting lineup of Kemba-Batum-MKG-Kaminsky-Whiteside looks nasty. With Lin-Lamb-??-Zeller-Hawes rounding out the bench with a balanced young 2nd unit.
If we could draft a sharp-shooting SF to back-up MKG and/or be insurance in case the latter can't stay healthy, we would be one of the top teams in the East.
Does Whiteside fit here with the parts that we currently have, and/or can we afford him (along with Batum) ?

Re: Around the NBA 8.0
I dont know if we can afford him and Nic. I do think he is a good fit though, him and MKG would be all-world defense.
How much cap space do we have anyway?
