Beat the 72 win Bulls.
Flukes happen. Maybe the Pistons hot start was the fluke, not their recent losses. We shall see.
This isn't a counterpoint. My entire point was a response to Jello's "no excuse for losing" comment. A single-game fluke was precisely what I was discussing.
It's been awhile since I took probability and statistics in college, but each and every game has it's own set of statistics and possible outcomes depending on the factors that affect the out come. How a player is shooting is one of the obvious one, how a team is working together in harmony, defense, the mood of the refs and how they are calling the game which will lead to only one possible conclusion. The best team can lose. Nothing is guaranteed. The Lakers might be a better team then their record indicates, but I am skeptical and cautious. Detroit might not be as good as their record shows, but the season is early. We have to see all 82 games played to determine which team was really the best. For me, I like what the Lakers are doing, I would just as soon see Kobe retire and give the playing time to the rookies and develop them for next year. Then they will be closer to attracting bigger market players that will eventually lead to all star players in a few years. It's a process that I have found many Lakers unrealistically thinks it will happen in another year base on the words of Jim Buss. The Pistons have floundered between pitiful and mediocre, so we really just have to wait and see.
