If Minnesota Called The Cavs..

Post#1 » by mjj0062 » Wed Nov 18, 2015 5:58 am

Lets say Minny called up griffin and offered him Wiggins (and salary fillers) straight up for Kevin Love would you do it? Ive been thinking about it for a few weeks and I honestly think I would. At the trade deadline I don't think it would be too hard to pick up a backup big and then put TT in the starting lineup.

Offensively they would lose a little bit of shooting, but defensively that would bring the cavs probably to Golden State's level. The more and more I watch Kevin Love play the less of a fan I become. He doesn't play defense, doesn't box out, takes a lot of ill advised 3s and when Kyrie Irving gets backs he essentially becomes a expensive stretch 4

Very quickly.
Of course I didn't think the trade was a good idea the first time.

...and I don't think the Cavaliers would be losing any shooting. I do like how Love plays within Blatt's scheme, its a perfect fit, but LeBron chooses not to play Blatt's scheme so we only see the benefits of Love for stretches.

No. We're not winning anything with the Tristan-Mozgov frontcourt, despite what we saw in the playoffs from them. Not enough spacing. Plus, Wiggins would be severely underutilized here because we'd have three ball dominant perimeter players sharing the ball. There's only one ball on the court. I just don't like the fit.

Right now? No.
Last season yes, if we hadn't given Wiggins we still could have gotten a an alternative to Love in the offseason or after the all star break last season.. right now we are under manned at the PF/C position and we don't really need Wiggins right now.

No.

I am a huge Wiggins supporter and i think he will be a superstar very soon(just look at my contributions to the "Whats wrong with Wiggins" Thread)... BUT i think he would be lost between Kyrie and Lebron.

You cant have 3 Wing Star Players. That wont work. The Heat Big 3 and now our Big 3 is working because All 3 or 2 of Them(Bosh,Bron,Wade)(Love,Lebron) are able to work in the Post.

Also The Floor Spacing would be horrible with a Moz,TT frontcourt.

In a Vacuum i like Wiggins more then Love but Basketball isnt played in a Vacuum.

The Fit isnt there with Wiggins in Cle

Wolves fan, checking in. I love both of the players, but I'd stick with Wiggy in Minnesota for the youth. I think the reasons why Love is a better fit for you guys have already been mentioned, as well.

I loved Love (pun unavoidable) in Minnesota, and was sad to see him go. I haven't followed many of your games, but I hope the guy is doing well. He busted his ass for us for years while the management failed to put a good team around him, so it'd be nice to see his years of toiling in misery pay off with some great success.

Hope you guys have a good season!

I'd pass. Wiggins may one day becomes a superstar but he's not one yet. I'm not sure how long it's going to take for him to get there either. We're playing to win a championship right now.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I think most people who say the rather have Wiggins back instead of Love are not thinking this through...
Love is exellent as 2nd or 3rd Option because he is much more than a scorer. one of the best rebounders in the NBA.. a exellent passer for a Big..
Wiggins has incredible Potential and is already a very good Scorer. His all around game though is still really lacking..

How would Wiggins role look like Between Lebron and Kyrie at SG? Propably he would be a 11/3/1 guy ala Harrison Barnes.. he would be totally wasted.

Young upcoming Stars need touches and must be allowed to just play even through their mistakes.

A Team like the Cavs with a soon to be 31yo Lebron that wants to win best case multiple Titles in the next 4-5 years cant afford to just let Wiggins play..
