From what I've seen from Rockets fans on other boards here, this won't upset many people. I like him and hope Rick brings him onto the staff.

I'm not upset he's gone, this team needs an X and O's guy to take the next step and it seems he had already lost the team. I am not happy to see them do this during the season because that's basically folding it in for this year. Oh well. I'll be holding out for Thibs. For all the grief he gets for not being a strategist McHale is a great guy who I respect. Great coach for a middle of the road team to establish a culture but struggled to put talent in its optimal position, hope the best for him.

I wouldn't be surprised Morey is next!

The only thing I'm disappointed in is that they didn't fire the whole coaching staff, which they can't I know, but I'm sure they had as much input in the way this team was coached. Either way I'm glad they made this move now. Hopefully Thibs is around the corner.

Not happy about firing during the season. I have not been able to watch any games this season but there has to be more going on with this team.

Anyways here's to hopefully sign coach tibbs

Wow...I'm not as surprised that it happened as I am the timing.

I doubt that Morey is in any danger.

So who is next, JVG? Thibs? Brooks?

lol...wow....well he made horrible decisions. He benched Lin for Beverly who has disappeared."Because of his defense" which was nonsense. Lin has been statisticaly better than Bev every year/ Not close. He deserved to go. He didn't run any offense. He allowed Harden to chuck up 30 shots a game and play NO defense. He sucked. Enjoy retirement.

Kind of funny. Mchale gone....Byron Scott will be gone soon too.....

Please don't say Brooks. That guy is another McHale. I want a coach that will actually run an offense and not relly heavily on his superstars. Thibs is the best and Morey has to get him or else this move will be pointless.
*sigh* I wonder if Rick Adelman would come back

I'm pretty sure that the usage of Jeremy Lin had absolutely no bearing on the decision to fire Kevin McHale. Do not try to bring this nonsense back to this board. It is not relevant, nor wanted here.

Kevin McHale said on Wednesday that he thought he could have turned the Rockets around but didn’t blame the team for letting him go.

“We were starting to address some of the issues that were the reason I was let go,” McHale said. “We just weren’t playing with any juice, with any rhythm. We haven’t been able to get the problems solved.

“We probably had more meetings in last six weeks than in my previous four years here.

“It wasn’t working.”

Beverly's injured. And defense is sort of a thing. And Lin . Of course.

I don't really know what to think of the firing honestly, don't think it was on him.

J.B. Bickerstaff is the Interim Head Coach and Chris Finch is his primary assistant.

Any word on the relationship they have with the current players?

Is the season over now? How often does a team make the playoffs with a coaching change during the season?

I think they was too quick on the trigger but I honestly was one of the people who was mad when they extended McHale contract.

McHale gets fired and Bill O'Brien still has a job after multiple 40 point blowouts.

So now James Harden is suddenly going to play the game the right way on both ends of the floor? I don't see it..

McHale was just the scapegoat

Unless we have the random minutes rotation machine please do not hire Thibs.

This man will run Harden to the ground. I know he plays heavy minutes already but Thibs will find some way to play Harden 55 minutes.
