GTown lost to Radford somehow at home, so Maryland could steamroll them, but I expect a close game. FEAR THE TURTLE.

Good game so-far, GTown looking strong actually, Stone is very green.

Heck of a game, if the Wizards could get a crowd half as rowdy they'd have a rocking home court.

I don't see Maryland as being a top 5 team right now but we'll see how their next few games play out

Bingo!

Whew. Nice composure at the end in coming from down 54-61 to win 75-71.

Everyone contributed.

Crack kills.

Steve Francis looks bad. (EDITED TO ADD: Juan Dixon looks great! Used to be a thin, frail-built guy but looks filled out and happy.)

Incredible excitement from the crowd. That felt like a championship atmosphere - watching it on tv. And kudo's to G-town for an outstanding effort. Hayes put on his performance of a lifetime.

For MD, Carter's experience makes him far more valuable - right now - than Stone - who looked far from 1 and done - but so did Kelly Oubre in his first few college games. Imo, Carter's biggest play was when he was thrown a low post entry pass - he quickly whipped the ball to Layman for a wide open corner 3 - who swished it. Carter followed that with an outstanding low post move to give him space to swish a short jump-hook. Clearly, "this ain't his first rodeo". Cekovsky looked real good - much better than Dodd - and I think he's gotta get more minutes - being a legit 7 footer with some talent. It's no going to be easy getting minutes to all the bigs.

Kinda disappointed Brantley played only 1 minute. Trimble's going to need more rest in the future. How many big tumbles did he take going to the basket? You can't do that every game. Even with all the other quality players MD has, he's a marked man out there. Layman - great finish to the game after a lousy first half. Last season, he shrunk at the end of several close games. This time, he rose to the occasion.

Gotta laugh at the color commentator harping on G-town not having the kind of size MD has. Their starting front court: Hayes is freaking 7 feet tall and 270 lbs, Derrickson goes 6'7 250, and Copeland's listed at 69 220. Govan's their 3rd big at 6'10 and a massive 270. Poor widdle G-town can handle size.

I posted after an exhibition game that I was concerned Brantley was not good. My forecast was Pomeroy is closer to right ranking MD down out top 5'

What a game. Kinda bitersweet though, just makes you wonder why these teams didn't play each other every year for the last decade plus.

That short hook by Carter was like vintage Ben Coleman. Pro move all the way.
