This might be a bit controversial, but with the way the game is trending, it might not be such as bad idea to trade Whiteside for Durant.

The league is trending smaller. I say this because the 3 ball had become a much more efficient shot. Spo is essentially the coach who proved small ball could win championships. He's got no problem going small, and I feel he'd prefer to have a high-octane offense that can run and gun. I think we play a more methodical pace primarily because of Whiteside.

What of we convert Whiteside into Durant and grab another rangy big that can help spread the floor? Now we'll not only add one of the best scorers in the league, but also get Goran back into the kind of setting he's more comfortable with.

I love me some Whiteside, but I'm not opposed to the idea of using him as a trade piece, if it can boat us an assassin like Durant. That dude gets buckets, and I'm trying to take the long view here. Whiteside doesn't help 2 of or major franchise pieces, Bosh and Dragon. Durant would help both. Given where we've invested our money so far, I'm in favor of this crazy idea.

Whiteside has zero trade value man. He has no bird rights. Anybody who trades for him would need to use cap space to sign him anyway and to make matters worse they wouldn't even have any advantages like being able to offer more money. No one is going to give up major assets for a rental player.

2nd Whiteside triple double with blocks.

I'm a fan, his blocks are unreal.

Or he could just choose to stay here regardless. The glass is half full not half empty.

Our best play is to resign him and forget chasing Durant. Build around Hassan, Bosh, Dragic and Winslow, with good complementary pieces like McBob, TJ & Richardson. Wade and Deng should be brought back if reasonable. If not, we have to move on and perhaps try to convince a Bradley Beal to come here if Wash goes all in on KD. There will be good MLE or vet min shooters available like Jamal Crawford and Joe Johnson.

Crawford is done and Iso Joe doesn't look like he gives a **** anymore. I would rather go after someone like Dudley or Courtney Lee

Everytime I watch Heat games Whiteside seems unbelievable. He blocks everything and anything that is within a 30 mile radius of him. He scores around the basket. He is athletic as f***. And he seems to be a mean son of a female dog.

Is he still a knucklehead? Because from what I'm seeing this guy is a lock for a max contract. He seems more impressive to me than Drummond, and everyone is on Drummond's trousersnake heavy right now.

So far he's been collecting his composure and improving, so that's a start.

He's not a knuckle head. His biggest problem was was that when the game wasn't going his way he had a tendency to let it get to him but even in regards to that we've seen a ton of improvement in the first 10 games alone.

He doesn't get technicals or anything detrimental to our team like that.

As far as the contract he will definitely get the max of that I have no doubt. You'll find a lot of people around here who already think that he's our best player. He's only going to get better.

He's unrestricted right? What do you think the odds are he signs elsewhere like say LA? Does he seem committed to Miami? BTW don't worry I'm not trying to poach him from you for my Knicks (although a lot of people on our board wanna throw the max at him this summer, while I think we should focus on perimeter guys).

All things being equal(as far as money is concerned) I don't see why he'd change teams just for the sake of change.

Now if a team like the Mavs gives him a promise like they did DeAndre Jordan telling him that he'll be the next Shaq and that they'll let him shoot 20+ times per game than who knows.

Anything can happen, we don't have state income tax so that is an advantage over a team like LA.

Personally as a Heat fan I think he'll definitely get his full max and I do think that we'll resign him. We gave him his first opportunity when no one else would and he loves his teammates and the city.

We'll see though. It'll be a fun ride regardless.

I could see DC being a landing spot for Whiteside too but we need to get our act together. So far Whiteside has been impressive this year and as advertised surely that is something we should build on.

It's funny how many teams' fans you see licking their chops at the prospect of signing Whiteside. THey all like to push the rhetoric that the Heat can't sign him to the max, and kind of ignore anything of substance that counters that.

Call me naïve if you will but I really believe Hassan is appreciative and grateful to the Heat for rescuing his career, I think he knows how lucky he is for being a part of a top notch organization, and I don't see him going to any other team because no one can offer more $ then us or offer a better situation (good team, good city, good front office, wining tradition, treated well, gets love and support all around). He seems to, and have every reason to like the Team we have (great fitting PF next to him, unselfish guys to feed him down low), and we built an connection (Zo, Spo, Pat, Wade) that wouldn't be easy to duplicate elsewhere.

Someone will need to offer a lot more$ for him to even consider leaving, and that's not possible when we can offer the Max ourselves.

I could be wrong, but aren't we able to offer marginally more than other teams due to being able to give him higher percentage increases in salary than other teams?
