11/20/15 - Lakers Host Raptors - Professional Game Thread - 7:30pm

The Lakers and the Raptors square off once again in what is sure to be an unnecessarily exciting game! Does it defy reason? Sure it does! That's never stopped these two teams from making it interesting before, why would it now?

The Lakers are coming of a demoralizing loss in Phoenix where the glue came... unglued... and it was about as pretty as road rash. Meanwhile the Raptors lost in heartbreakingly dramatic fashion at the hands of the red hot Warriors Jazz, pretty much exactly the same way, proving, as they do, that they aren't quite as good as their record suggests their record is fairly telling!

Winner takes all in this battle of the... two teams!

And finally, an exclusive interview with Byron Scott and The Reporter Icon!
(warning: you will not get these five minutes back)
Spoiler:
Image: Hi Byron! Wow, what a great chance to meet with you, glad you finally made it!

Image: Well, I know I was supposed to be here an hour ago, but I was in an unfortunate accident on my way here.

Image: Oh no! What happened!

Image: Well if you must know, I rear ended someone. My brakes didn't work.

Image: That's terrible! Do you know what happened with your brakes?

Image: Well, they just didn't try enough. I can only tell the brakes what to do, I can't make them work.

Image: Wait... you did actually press your foot down though right?

Image: I shouldn't have to. These brakes have been brought up through the system, they're supposed to be good working breaks. If they don't try, well, that's not on me.

Image: I... uh...

Image: I even showed the brakes a video of a car stopping. I don't know what else I can do.

Image: Yeah... moving on... why don't you take us through a typical Lakers practice?

Image: Well after smoothies, I get the team to spread out across the floor. Once they're in their spots, I have them stand and take deep breaths for the next ten minutes.

Image: Ah yes! A page out of Phil Jackson's book! Meditation is supposed to be great for clearing the mind of distractions!

Image: Meditationing? You're trippin. That's the offence. Then I get Kobe to shoot half court shots with the whole team guarding him. Then we break for lunch.

Image: Is that... is that it? You don't run them through drills or anything?

Image: Of course I do. I have a judo instructor who teaches Roy how to roll properly, I have D'Angelo studying the history of the NBA from day 1, and I have Julius run into dummy tackles.

Image: Speaking of coaching, you're going to be up against the Raptors and Dwane Casey next! He has some very similar coaching tendencies to you. What do you plan to do when he crosses his arms on the sideline and gives a stern look?

Image: Oh, now that is a good question. I plan to also cross my arms and give a stern look too, but with a hint of disinterest in the game.

Image: Now that's some savvy! What if he starts pacing up and down the sideline?!

Image: Oh, if he starts doing that, well I'm just going to have to point at something. Like maybe the net. That's where the ball should be going.

Image: Well, Jason Kidd didn't lead the Nets to the finals for nothing! Best of luck Byron! Maybe that lazy bum Jakay can be arsed to eventually do another game thread and we can talk again!

Image: I sure hope not

Image: Great! Bye!

Solid game thread! The interview is priceless. It's almost exactly how I imagine an interview with Byron would go.

I voted for triple overtime. At least that way Russell has a slight chance of seeing 30mins.
Talking about how bad Julius Randle is:

 at this game will not be coached. Their coach may actually be worse than Byron Scott.

Raps need this game after their recent skid.

There's nothing at this point in the season that convinces me that the Lakeshow can win this game. Hopefully Kobe can have a throwback game, even if its his last...

I posted this huge blustery, jingoistic post about the current state of the team for this thread and my phone ate it. So I will save it for the Christmas thread and just say "Go Lakers!"

Am I the only one who is jealous of the great offensive system the Warriors have .. not to mention the elite defense the overall team gives when they are dailed in? The Warriors are gonna be the team to be feared in the next 6-7 years.... The Lakers should watch some Warriors game films and Study there offensive and defensive recipie.
