Re: Suns find themselves in a pickle: Moving Markieff Morris
Frye and a Lottery Protected 1st for Morris?
Frye is terribad for Orlando, but he was a KEY component of our Solar-Suns Bench of 2009-2010, and was actually a decent defender. Tyson will help cover up his rebounding issues.

Re: Suns find themselves in a pickle: Moving Markieff Morris
We have Leuer who is already better than Frye.
I don't want a player who has deficiencies we have to hide. I'd rather take no one (picks) and run with the guys we have, who already seem to have good chemistry.
Let them play out the year, and assess midseason/ end season where our deficiencies are moving forward. Use our truckload of picks to fill those holes.

We need a third scorer. I don't know how we can get it with trading Morris.

I honestly feel like we need a Draymond Green type of player more than a scorer, which is why I mentioned Harrison Barnes. Between the potential of TJ & Booker, I think we'll have complimentary scoring to Braric Blight covered moving forward.

Of course Dray would fit perfect but our team is depending on scoring of Bledsoe and Knight too much. They can't play like this in all games all season long. We need someone who can carry us in these kinda situations. It was Markieff but he prefered to sell out his team.

I see where you're coming from but my reasoning is the other way around. Golden State is dangerous because even when their shots aren't falling, they stay in the game because of their defense. Then, they have the ability to go on a scoring spurt at any given time and put the game away.
The Suns' defense/rebounding are already much improved than last season, I think we're one glue guy away from being an elite defensive squad. I'd rather have our defense be able to overcome lapses in offense rather than having another mouth to feed on the court.

We might be better off saving him for a S&T next year.

Re: Suns find themselves in a pickle: Moving Markieff Morris
The real pickle is for Coach Hornacek. Right now Kieff is in an extended shooting slump. It really hurts that he can't hit the three because that closes down driving lanes for Knight and Bledsoe. For the past two games, with Kief returning to the starting lineup, we have seen some large 1st quarter deficits from that unit. Most of the fans see Kief's lack of motivation and his crappy shooting. I wonder how long Horny will leave Kief in the starting lineup. Right now I don't care about moving him .... he can play behind Leuer and Telly who both provide the stretch four skills we need. We lost the Bulls game because of a bad 1st quarter. Made a great comeback in the Nuggets game ... and Kief sat for most of the second half in that one. Question is when will Horny make this change.

That would lead to uninspired play and additional lack of focus. His mind has moved on already.... As for all of the other deals on here, I would still keep him if there isn't another deal in place. Need to get him refocused.
I am an advocate for letting him lead the bench scoring effort. Move Leuer and TJ in as starters and maybe PJ and Kieff to the bench mob. Price (or Knight/Bledsoe), Booker, PJ, Kieff, Len. That team would do serious damage to opponents defenses, I think.
What deal do you speculate is already in place?
And even if there was, I doubt Kieff would know about it. Any team can pull out at any time, like when GS decided they didn't want to trade us Curry.
Any thoughts I have on a deal are pure speculation, but there are several teams that could use an improvement at the 4 right now, Indiana being one of them.
As far as Kieff not knowing, it's possible that he doesn't, but in cases like this it would be wise by management to include his agent in the destination options to allow the agent to help build up trade value with the new organization. That increases the opportunity for the move. A fair amount of times trades are actually orchestrated by agents. I think it's very possible in this case that there is a deal in place for a Dec. move of Markieff in such a scenario. Again, pure speculation, but he has shown very little heart this season, and in his case, I think it's because he may have moved on already.
I actually hope I am wrong. I hope that he will temporarily move to the bench to get some confidence back and all of this stuff just blows over, but I'm not holding my breath.

I was thinking Faried but I doubt Denver would make the swap

Markieff's shooting is virtually the same as Marcus'. Markieff is shooting 36.6% fg and 26.9%. More terrible shooting.
This is what I have been saying all along about the Morris brothers. Forget everything they do or say off the court. They are not good players. They are both bench players at best. Markieff does one thing well and that is hit clutch shots down the stretch of games. He carved out his niche. But he does nothing else. Poor rebounder, extremely soft inside, slow, bad shooter, horrible attitude, low iq, bad influence on young players. Then add on the fact that he does not care about this team and is playing at half speed. It blows my mind why anyone still wants this guy around. I just hope McDonough is not making this a pride issue and refusing to trade him even at the detriment of the team.
Marcus's craptacular play has gone unnoticed after his hot start.

Re: Suns find themselves in a pickle: Moving Markieff Morris
OK. Here is my suggestion:
Kieff, PJ, and Price for DMo and Lawson
This is assuming that the Rockets are done with Lawson and want to dump his $12 million per year for his absolutely horrible play so far. They take Kieff to play in Dmo's role because both of their pf's are often injured and Kieff has been durable. Price has been playing well and adds a vet leadership presence their locker room needs right now.
The Suns do it because DMo is the perfect pf for their system. He can shoot, post up, and rebound. They trust their training staff to keep him healthy. Don't want Lawson, but its the cost of doing business.

I mean...talent-wise, that's not a horrible deal, but I really don't want Lawson in this lockerroom, and getting rid of PJ and Price means getting rid of two guys who set the tone for this team in terms of their toughness, their hustle, and their defense.

I am in this camp. He is not helping the team at all - in fact, probably hurting it with his lackluster play. Bledsoe, Knight, Chandler, Warren, Price, Leuer, Teletovic, PJ, Archie - all busting it. This guy is going through the motions.
I don't give up picks like the Miami unprotected or first rounders but if you could dump Kieff for an expiring Anderson, you do it. Granted, NO will not do that deal. I think maybe Houston if they want to change the team or Toronto for Petersn and a pick,

Not Lawson
Suns have a good chemistry thing going. Kieff for Frye - interesting. I am not sure how much that helps but with what Kieff is giving - effort wise more than anything.

Re: Suns find themselves in a pickle: Moving Markieff Morris
I am for trading Markieff for picks and/or unproven players because I like the power forward combination of Leuer/Teletovich. They are both exactly what the Suns need from the four spot. Three point shooters that open up the floor for the guards. Teletovich has a very quick release too. I also take what the Suns already have over Frye any day. No way on Frye ever coming back to the Suns. So unless the Suns are getting back an all star power forward somehow, I do not see anything available that is better than Leuer/Teletovich.

Well. At least its not a homer proposal.
