Apparently Andy Van Slyke has spread this around on MLB Network today.
Well, now that it's out, take a little bit more value away from Yasiel's already dwindling value.

well AVS is a regular bored housewife if he is in fact the one spreading a gossip. but hey IF we get Carlos Carrasco out of this and SVS is a regular in the outfield, I would welcome it. but chances are Carl Crawford will be the one to start over his son.
ehhhhh f it.

Kershaw's kind of a weird dude... First, I'm not sure why he'd care too much about Puig. He doesn't seem that sociable in the locker room anyway... And second, as great as he is, I don't think you want to run your franchise based on his whims...

All that said, Puig has his own issues. But he seemed to be heading in the right direction at least mentally... His game was non-existent though down the stretch. If you can get something in return, maybe it's as good a time as any to trade him.

my guess is that Clay spoke to his bud Zack what would take to get Greinke back in dodger blue and one of the conditions was trading out Puig.

Yeah, that seems about right... But it seems like kind of a strange request for a pitcher to ask for an outfielder gone. And unnecessary... The team already seemed to be heading in that direction anyway.

Kilroy, you see the NL West celebration this year after the game in SF?
Kershaw would have been good at any frat if he decided to go to college, lmao.
He also has stuff he does on the side like ping pong tourney for Kershaw's challenge.

IMO, he seems like one of those guys that has a significant personality in the locker room and just tries to gives canned ("classy" for other people…just lol) answers to the media to make sure there's no controversy ala Jeter, Russell Wilson etc. etc.

unless you were saying Puig doesnt seem sociable in the locker room….then, nvm.

not so much on Clay, I blame the old man Andy. he should know better. sending Puig out doesn't give his son a starting spot until we can dump Carl or Andre and I don't wish to give up Andre and at this point... and Carl is un-trade-able unless we eat most of his salaries. this did not need to get out of the house. Andy Van Slyke used to be one of my favorite non-dodger for those years he spent with Barry Bonds and Bobby Bonilla as a buc or his sole year as a Phillie, but man he is more of a house wife of the Orange County than he is a former major leaguer.

Maybe sociable wasn't the right word... He's clearly sociable, but he always seems to be doing this weird stuff to keep it light. I think he has anxiety issues and sometimes comes off as an odd-ball as a result.

I certainly think there's a personality clash there, but they just seem to be on different planets most of the time, I doubt they interact that much anyway.

Jose Hernandez and GianCarlo Stanton for Yasiel Puig, Carl Crawford and De Leon? I hate to do this but if we eat all of Carl's salary in 2016, I think the Marlins would bite. they are only on the hook for 21 million for two years of Carl and Puig's rather team friendly contract and gets to dump Stanton's 333.5 million remaining 13 years.

Zimmermann and Carasco could soften the blow of losing Greinke.

That's if Greinke doesnt bolt to SF.
I could actually live with him bolting….but i'd be kinda pissed if it was to SF.

Welcome Back, Dave!

Post#113 » by Ranma » Mon Nov 23, 2015 2:43 am

With an African-American father and Japanese mother, Dave Roberts becomes the Dodgers' first minority manager. I'm sure that was not the only consideration in his hiring but it's still a significant milestone for the team that broke baseball's color barrier. He also has championship experience a key player who helped ended the Red Sox's World Series drought and is reportedly respected and even beloved in Major League circles for his ability to communicate. Also, he was reportedly a close 2nd to Scott Servais for the managerial job with the Mariners.

To Molly's point...
The one thing I love about this front office is how tight lipped they are.
That is how an operation should be run IMO. Let the actions of the FO speak and let the public decipher what you're doing and what happened.

just lol at all the Kapler rumors. I even believed them and was convinced Kapler was coming.

Front Office Machinations

I agree that I like the secrecy of the front office, which Friedman & Zaidi have said previously they like to take advantage of leaving other teams guessing. However, from multiple reports (possibly citing the same source), Friedman looked like he was set on Kapler as the leading candidate before ownership prompted the front office to open the field of candidates more, which is when Roberts got the opportunity to interview and then shine. I think it's fair to say that Kapler would probably have been the choice had ownership (and subsequent player support) not gotten involved. The really surprising aspect of this whole situation is how Dave Martinez was so quickly dismissed from consideration just like he was previously from the Tampa Bay opening. He must be really bad at interviews or something. Then again, Friedman still has buddies over in the Rays' organization so they could possibly be working from the same notes and playbook.

I'm fine with a post-Thanksgiving-weekend press conference to let players, coaches, and executives make plans for the holidays. There will be more people available after the holiday weekend to contact as candidates for the bench and base coach positions, so it'd be more practical to hit the ground running then. We all know the decision now, which is good enough for me. The announcement is just a formality at this point. We'll probably get the press release tomorrow with the press conference the following week.

Peter Gammons on Hot Stove this morning saying that people don't understand that Friedman and Farhan took over a team with 5 different political cells that weren't connected and that they had to try and get them on one page.

He also said people don't understand that Friedman has hired more scouts than he has let go over this period of time and praised the Ismael Cruz hire that we'e aware of and proud of.

One more thing Ranma

if you see anything on what Jose Peraza is doing this winter can you please post it here?
Googling isn't enough and I wanna know where he's playing ball and what position he's playing at over the winter if he's doing that.
