Re: PC Board OT thread
It bums me out how people always say how bad MJ was in the Wizard years, before the injury he was a 24/6/4 type of guy. I know the shooting percentages weren't great but in a better situation and with an actual coach i think he'd look better, and its not like watching whats happening now with the corpse of Kobe, Pierce, Garnett etc

Well he was historically inefficient so he was pretty bad. Not as terrible as Bryant but thats not saying much.

WIth an actual coach? He had his handpicked coach, Doug Collins, who had been reasonably (though not GOAT type) successful elsewhere.
And he was a lot worse than his stats for the team. His ego forced a trade of Rip Hamilton for Jerry Stackhouse and his harshness is often credited with destroying 1st choice in the NBA draft Kwame Brown's confidence so that Kwame never approached his potential.

"This is a copycat league," said Randy Wittman, who has Kris Humphries jacking 3s and Jared Dudley working as the Wizards' closing-time power forward. "The success of Golden State has propelled coaches to play more small ball than maybe they even wanted to. More teams will push the envelope."

Where my irritation with Jordan comes in in the Washington years is not in how good or bad he was, but in what was appropriate for the situation.
The goal of the situation was to help grow young talent, and Jordan was very clear on that. When he talked about his plans, he talked about being a supporting player to these young players. He said this while he had to feel like he was better than any of them, so it wasn't about him misunderstanding where those players were skill-wise. He simply knew, cognitively, that if the goal is to help them develop, there's no reason to think it makes sense for you the old veteran to dominate the shots. Yet chuck he did.
The team was never going to go anywhere with him doing that, and the team was not going to be helped development-wise to try to learn roles around a type of player that wouldn't be around later in their career. Add in we start to see where Jordan's bully-leadership ended up being really problematic for young guys.
So yes, Jordan on a better team would have done better. He'd have shot less. He'd have taken on a role that actually made sense. But he didn't get randomly forced into the situation he was in. He chose it, and he chose it essentially knowing what he had to do up front, and then utterly abandoned it once he actually got the opportunity to play hero again. And in that, he's just like Kobe.
Jordan remains a player for the ages and a very reasonable choice for GOAT, but his time in Washington was ugly. No way around it.

Yeah people need to not say the whole "if only he had a good coach" when we're talking about players with more power than their coaches gravitating back toward individualist play. The reality is that the coach is almost never the most powerful person in the locker room, and when he is it's because the star player insists upon it.
As an established superstar, if you have bad habits that never seem to go away, that's not the coach's fault any more. You need to be seeking out criticism and taking control of your own growth.

Is anyone here an econ major? Or an economic development officer? Or even if not:
Does anyone know where I can find GDP contributions of specific industries by each state in the US? Hopefully categorized by NAICS code?

Click on "GDP in current dollars" (assuming that works for you), then select year and so on.

Time to engage Zaza thread.
And I really like Justice Winslow, but this is just getting stupid now.

Yeah, honestly I think we already have too many player threads. I would limit it to top 5-10 players in the league. Even Eric Bledsoe thread that I created, has only 1 reply so far, in two weeks, and Bledsoe is playing like a legitimate star this season.

Re: PC Board OT thread
The Kobe thread has turned to almost all trolling, and the player threads are just crazy.
