Coach Skiles has this team wound up too tight

Post#1 » by Destin » Tue Nov 24, 2015 7:32 pm

They play not to lose instead of playing to win. The players seem scared to death to not make a mistake. The only one out there that looks like he is having a good time is Evan and maybe dedmon

Perhaps everybody is nervous about getting traded? The chemistry looks bad and they look like they are thinking too much before reacting.

Skiles should take the entire team out to a strip club. Let them pop some bottles and loosen up a bit. It would do wonders for this team

A strip club is probably the worst idea you could think of. Chuck E Cheezes, check the average age of the roster man come on...

I never understood why people get upset about starting new threads. It's just a way to have designated, specific topics. Wh not just have one general discussion thread and lump everything into it? Probably because that's disorganized and cumbersome. Everyone just relax!

Anyway, we lost against Sacramento, which was kind of a tough one to take, but we can't deny that the officiating was horrific and we couldn't buy a bucket. Last game, we lost against the reigning EC champions and consensus likely Finalist this year. We're going to be ok. We have to expect skids, as long as they aren't 4,5,6+ games like before.

It will be interesting to see how the season shakes out. Right now, it looks like we will miss the Playoffs this year again, despite improving a ton and playing with purpose, which is really disappointing. Then again, we JUST started. A lot can still happen.

I actually agree with OP. It's good that Skiles is trying to enforce discipline, but it almost feels like there isn't enough room for certain players to "do their thing."

I agree to some extent. I felt like we started the season out ok but tried to move to fast past the basics of Scott Skiles strategy. Players aren't thinking to much.

I think these heartbreaking close losses to very good teams has really hurt our team's confidence. The pressure has got to be pretty bad for these guys because everybody is now expecting/demanding that they win ballgames where last couple of season it was a good thing if they lost ball games

Because men in their early twenties with a lot of testosterone HATEEEEE naked hot girls.... coodies!

Jokes aside, i agree with the OP. I think Skiles went in the season with a trash starting lineup and punishes players too much for mistakes. Im all for accountability, but all skiles is going to do is discourage players and kill their confidence. i could understand what he is doing if we were a contender in anyway, but we arent. Making the playoffs isnt worth making someone like Vuc or payton discouraged to the point that they regress.

I've never seen an NBA team this uptight and scared to make a mistake, I watch Skiles post game press conferences.. He's more wound up than Nick Saban. His post games interviews are painful to watch. If Skiles is this bad with the press.. how is he with the players behind the scene??

Agreed: The players have nothing but praised Coach Skiles demands. The team simply needs to grow. Wins will not come overnight. Most fans predicted a 29-32 win season; whis is what such seasons look like!

I hate to say it, but I agree with you. I think they are working so hard on defense that they've lost some of their confidence on offense. They aren't having fun anymore it's like he's messed with their heads and they've lost their mojo. They do seem to be thinking too much, afraid to make a mistake. Do they have a team psychologist? That and a better shooting coach would work wonders.

We are going to the next 3 games and I'm hoping for 2/3. GO MAGIC!
