Re: LA Clippers (6-7) AT Denver (6-8)
I'm assuming he meant Chuck as in Charles Barkley and just made a typo.
I don't dislike Austin like some, but we're 14 games in now, and I do have to question what Austin brings to the floor that is getting him 24 mpg. Even taking out the games starting, since CP's come back he's played 22 mpg.
Austin tries on defense, but he's not an elite defender, and he's also a pretty useless rebounder defensively.
Offensively his shot is still not effective enough. He's finishing well this year, but can't get to the basket enough to make up his efficiency, isn't adept at getting to the line, and so far isn't even making FT's. He doesn't space the floor, he's not a PG as he just doesn't have the vision or mentality, he's not a good scorer, and he's not efficient.
I want the guy to be useful, but honestly, I don't know if his defensive energy overcomes his flaws, well, at least not for anything over 12-13 mpg at the most. He brings too little to the table offensively. For example when the team had Bledsoe, he was also inefficient as a scorer, but not only was he a higher impact defender, he helped out on the glass, and even though he was turnover prone, he was able to penetrate and create plays for others. Not to mention he was good at pushing the pace.
I don't want to go the nepotism angle, but Austin seriously should not be playing this much on a team trying to contend unless he actually shows concrete evidence that he has become a better player.

i agree with this. i know i've been pretty high on him because i thought he could be better. he did improve, just not to where we need him to be lol. like, if austin could only do one more decent thing whether it was hitting an open shot, finishing layups, or rebounding, he'd be so much better for us. it's unfortunate that he's not.
