Great news.

I would say it's premature, but with an article already published about other teams wanting him as head coach, I can see why the team made this move. Still, if the Hornets fail to make the playoffs, it might look foolish. For the record, I think Coach Clifford is improving over time.

Did Bonnell get his first scoop as a professional on this? How cute! Welcome to the league.

With the improvement of this team, they're probably all getting pats on the back

If this would have happened before the season I would have been beyond irate, yet I'm completely fine with it now. If there was a most improved coach award Clifford would have it locked down.

Hooray for continuity!

Clifford earned this. Congrats to him and his family.

Congrats Cliffie. I'm liking the continuity on this team. We have to be among the most harmonious clubhouses in the League at this point (not quite the Spurs or Warriors, but not far behind).

Hopefully being rewarded for his newfound flexibility will encourage more of the same.

Now let's see if he has the balls to start Frank over big Al. It might be a little ugly at first but it will pay off in the long run when April rolls around.

The players seem to love him and that is very important when we have such a pivotal summer ahead in terms of trying to retain Batum and possibly Lin. There would have been a much higher chance of losing those guys this summer if Clifford was not resigned.

He deserves it. He's handled the early part of the season very well, minus the Spencer stank

Nicolas Batum says he's been here two months and he loves Clifford. Having him here will be a big factor in his decision as a UFA #Hornets.

I think it's a tad bit premature, but all in all this is a great decision. We're not gonna find a better coach on the open market, and he has shown this season that he's far more open to changing the way the team plays than any of us thought before the season.

All in all great signing, finally having some continuity is gonna do wonders for this team.

Apparently it's actually a four year extension, with the last year being a team option. Even better.

Dittos to this, especially the part about an alternative if he imploded this season. The talent development, retention, and recruiting can all be boosted with continuity. Players like him and play hard for him. I only hope he continues to show a willingness to evolve rather than spinning tires on a bad strategy.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
