I was thinking of this. Maybe we can get the number one pick and get Simmons, he would have all this scorers to pass to. And if nancw pans out as expected in 2-3 years we can have a gsw-like death squad. But first we need Simmons and a smart, creative coach to make it work.

Givony said Simmons shot 3-30 from 3-point range during warm-ups before the game against Marquette. Yikes.

Lakers are going to get a player they need no matter what (lots of wings and centers in lottery range), but they'll be super fun if they could get Simmons or Bender. If Randle could be a slightly below average 3-point shooter by next season and Simmons practices his shot by next season, they'll be really interesting. The biggest issue with them is coaching, Kobe and Hibbert. Playing next to Hibbert is terrible for any young player's development because he doesn't help/is not quick enough on defense and clogs space on offense. I hate seeing so many misses offensive boards because Hibbert can't move.

I'd move Randle if I got Simmons.

I compared Simmons to J-Smoove way back earlier, and it looks like that with his shooting struggles currently.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

After watching a couple of his college games now, I have come to one conclusion. Absolutely Amazing. He is a man among boys out there right now, and he can do pretty much everything!

Not way off base but far superior the play maker. More Odom-eque, if you will.

Only thing that reminds me of Smith is his Jumper.. Everything else is Lamar Odom like and better.

I know he's a poor shooter but that must of been a serious off night or Givony is a liar. 3-30 sounds unbelievable.

It's really starting to hold true that he needs that jumper though. It's one thing saying 'he's just being unselfish, he can turn it on if he needs to, like his dad said in the opener, but I don't think that holds true. For a guy that's destined to be playing on the perimeter so much, his perimeter scoring arsenal is lacking at this point.

Once he develops it however, I think we're looking at a star. What he's doing outside of the scoring tally is absolutely incredible.

I don't think anyone thinks they're drafting a small forward right away. He's a power forward that can potentially become a small forward. I'm wondering why he doesn't shoot more, but it doesn't worry me at all.

I wasn't suggesting that he was a SF, but if he's going to play the way he plays, even at the PF spot, the jumper is still very important.

For everyone who thinks that Simmons will be awesome once he develops a shot, just look at Rubio. Everyone has been saying that since he was 16 and he still hasnt done it. I would be more hopeful of Simmons developing a shot if he had good form, but his form is atrocious, and if that 3 for 30 stat is true, then he can't even hit shots in practice. Compare that to Rubio who apparently tied with Bjelica and Rudez for a 'fun' wolves 3 point contest. Rubio can make shots in practice, but Simmons can't even do that yet.

Actually, I think that is a fairly good floor for Simmons, a 6-10 Rubio who can actually finish around the rim, at least on the offensive end.

Here's a good look at his form. It's not good by any means, but it all seems like fixable stuff.

How's his finishing with his left hand? He's really unique in that he's lefty who seems to prefer finishing with his right, sometimes to a fault.

The kid has no confidence in his jumpshot at all

I read somewhere last season that he was able to hit them at a pretty effective rate in practice for Montverde, but come game time
he'd almost never shoot. On the place side when LSU toured down in Australia he was like 5 of 9 from 3pt range.

Also in high school he was like a 50-60% ft shooter, he seems to have improved that alot, he's still young so he'll definately improve

Reminds me of John Henson, Bucks fans are always giving him **** for being so predictable in that he'd go lefty hook every time but he's really a right hand dominant.

Ben said the other day that he prefers finishing with his right as he's found it seems to draw more fouls

I'm not too worried about Simmons' jumpshot as an NBA prospect. He's currently shooting a not great but not awful 73% from the ft line, which indicates to me that there's some potential there. His form isn't so broken that it can't be fixed over time. Look at what Draymond Green was in college and where he is now as a 3 point shooter.

I've been seeing him initiate offense from the post(not much vs. Marquette), does he actually have something there in terms of scoring?

its not a wide variety, there is some faceup potential with his first step probably better to put him at the elbow and make the defense make a decision.
