The ceiling is extremely high for Bruno. At least when you look at the physical abilities combined with what he's shown so far. Guys his size often struggle to shoot the ball. He definitely doesn't. I think minimum is he's a good 3 and D guy eventually. Could be a star though.

I was at that game last night and Bruno withstood the eye test. He was hand's down the best player on the floor when he could stay on the floor. Liked what I saw from Robert's but he needs to develop at least a 15 ft'er to be a four in the NBA. Wright was excellent on the ball defender but hesitant to shoot kinda of like COJO. Cooley's motor for Iowa is outstanding someone needs to take a flyer on him.

I always like to bring up Rudy Gobert in these scenarios. He's by far the most dominant defensive anchor in this league, might be the best we've seen since Ben Wallace. And yet take away his wingspan, what's special about him? Basketball IQ? This is subjective, since there's no way to quantify basketball IQ, but from all that I've seen Gobert's IQ is above average at best. Mobility? Yeah he's plenty mobile for a 7fter, but so are a bunch of other 7fters and they have nowhere near the impact Gobert has. How come a guy like Steve Adams, who has above average basketball IQ and great mobility for a center, can't defend on Gobert's level?

It's because Gobert has a 7'9 wingspan. They say basketball is a game of inches. Lots of shots go unblocked, lots of passes are not intercepted, because the defender is a micro second late to make the defensive play. How many times have we seen a defender closing out on a jumpshooter, and his fingertips being a centimeter short of affecting the shot? It seems to happen all the time. Give that same player a couple of inches, and now he's making all of these defensive plays that weren't possible before.

Leonard has a 7'3 wingspan and everyone considers that to be freakish and it allows him to get a crapload of blocks and steals. Bruno has a 7'7 wingspan (of course I'm not comparing them as players, only highlighting how much of a freak Bruno's wingspan is in comparison to a guy who's considered to have a freakish wingspan).

If we can speed up Bruno's development where his awareness defensively is even average, he's going to be a terror on the perimeter.

It's really hard to quantify bball IQ or awareness, but I would say it's easily more important than wingspan. A superior ability to recognize how the play is developing and taking decisive action easily gets your feet to the ball faster, which I think is much more important than getting your hands to the ball. Marc Gasol is not especially mobile or lengthy, but his positional play makes him an outstanding defender - his presence deters shots, not his reach.

I agree I'd rather have a defender with high IQ than one with a long wingspan (Noah vs. McGee). At the same time while it's hard, players can develop better awareness, but they can't grow their arms. I'm not exactly trying to justify the pick and how we should only target players with length, just saying that this is the risk we took when selecting him.

Most likely this. I'm guessing after all those road games we're gonna have a stretch of home games and we want them to practice with us.

scrub. 2o years old and can't shoot .400 in the D league. .278 from 3 when that is supposed to be a strength. Francilla was right - 2 years away from being 2 years away from being a waste of a pick,
Dick expectation level 0/5

Has Bruno gotten any better? Last time I seen him play was preseason he made a 3 and then dribbled off his foot everytime he dribbled the ball
