Re: Around the League
I was really surprised Orlando got Fournier for such a low cost. And Brandon Knight looking like an all-star so far, wish we still had him. He would be perfect as the 6th man

They are obviously in tank mode and yet this is the team some Pistons fans want us to emulate.

Re: Around the League
Nothing wrong with tanking for talent, but it seems like Philly is perpetually stuck in step 1 of what should be a 5 step process. As much as I hate the guy Ainge is a great example of a GM who understands how to leverage the assets he acquires to incrementally upgrade his roster.
Anyway, I actually kinda feel bad for Philly fans. About the only franchise that's been worse than us over the past 5 seasons and we got a bit lucky with both Moose and Dre falling to us. Their fans deserve better.

Philly is going to have to burn it to the ground when it comes to the organization. They have bred a losing culture that have infected everything.Iam not totally against tanking, like say if your season is already shot and you only have 10 games left and you definitly arent making the playoffs, but to do it year after year from the begining of the season and being upfront about it,what do you think it does to the players who worked their butts off to get to the NBA.

With Orlando having Oladipo and Hezonja, I could see Fournier leaving in FA. I'd love to have him- we could a very good team with consistent players at the 2-4. Fournier was always a solid shooter but Skiles has turned him into a good defender as well. He can play the 2 or the 3, he'd be one of my top targets in FA if I was SVG

I could see them dumping Dipo over Fournier to be honest. Fournier does everything you need for their squad, defend a bit, shoot lights out, and ISO when needed. He's been their MVP and it's understandable why. Dipo hasn't showed much for them this season, and was even benched in favor of Fournier.

honestly its not that Hinikie's idea was bad, it was Hinkie apparently sucks at drafting. 4 years of crap and Okafor ,maybe noel, is probably the only thing they have to show for it. Embiid........maybe. Saric............maybe. They should be at point where there youth is starting to come into its own, instead they are still "looking for the superstar". I believe his idea would have worked if they drafted better.

When I watch both,SJ just looks like he has more weapons. To me winslow shows he can defend and sometimes get to the rim for a dunk, but really does nothing else when he gets there or looks to pass because when he gets that deep his handles arent there yet to get back out...For all we know,SJ could tank, but if were going by looks for them both right now,SJ wins that rd.

he's classic 3 and D player at this point without the 3 pointer. SJ brings so much more versatility. JW will get better, but i don't understand the ranking if you watch the games. mostly based on hype

Re: Around the League
I still like Winslow better as a prospect/player but I like Johnson better as a fit.
Will be interesting to see Philly vs LAL later this week - Phila can break their winless streak this season BUT they own LAL's first rounder this season if I believe it's out of the top three. So do they lose to increase their odds at getting the Lakers first rounder, or try to win because if they lose to the LAL, the losses to start the season record becomes a very real possibility?

Re: Around the League
Winslow has played better than Johnson on the season, its not hard to see. Winslow has been a much better defender and more efficient scorer thus far- which explains why JW is ranked higher

It's a little hard to see. I mean, I don't watch as many Miami games as you do apparently, but their numbers are remarkably similar except for the fact that Johnson plays 8 less minutes per game.

The biggest different is Detroit ask SJ to be one of the sparks off the bench, we make it a point to put him in the PnR , whereas JW at this point can't effectively put the ball on the floor , post up, or score. They ask JW to defend and get hustle points with the occasional jumper because thats pretty much all he can do, where as SJ can run the point, post up, etc. Its very easy to make a case for JW without context which are pretty much everyone who ranks jw ahead of sj. Also all this talk about his premier defense, reminding me of MKG. You can be a great defender when your not asked to do anything offensively

I have watched alot of Miami's games and Winslow has played well defensively, but he's not shown much more than Stanley has, he's just asked to do less. They are both great young prospects, and their numbers are similar except Stanley does it in less minutes.

Eh. SVG asked SJ to focus on defense and rebounding. Instead, SJ tries to force his offensive game and often takes bad shots that are outside the flow of the offense. When you stop being biased its easy to see why the guy putting on 7points/5 boards on 46% FG in 29mpg with elite defense is considered as having the better season than the guy putting up 7 points/4 boards on 37% FG in 20mpg.
