Now that Hansbrough has made more jump shots in 16 minutes (two) than Cody Zeller has in 282 (zero), and has nearly as many rebounds per 36 (9.2 to 9,0), good for first and second on the team, I have to ask: when will Tyler get a chance?

I know, there are not enough minutes to prove anything. But just look at the preseason, and you will see that Tyler also had the best defensive rating on the team, and the second-most rebounds per game in the NBA. He similarly had the best defensive rating on the Raptors last season, and was second among rotation players in rebounds per 36. In preseason, Hansbrough also managed just as many points per 36 as Spenser Hawes, 12.4, a bit better than Zeller's 12.0.

The man is not getting a fair shake.

I actually kind of agree that he isn't really getting a fair shake. I don't really necessarily think he is a regular rotation player, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is better than Hawes. Maybe now that Frank has seemingly taken Hawes spot Psycho will also jump Hawes since he and Frank are redundant. I could see him getting spot minutes now when we need defense or if Cody is hurt.

Only seven more games until Tyler can be traded. If the coach cannot or will not figure out how to use him effectively, despite all the tinkering with player combinations, including end-of-game situations when a strong rebounder and defender might come in handy, a trade would be best for all involved. After last night's game against Cleveland, the Hornets are 22nd in rebounds per game and 13th in points allowed. But they are 6th in points per game, and that is the way the season is shaping up so far.

Coach Clifford said that Hansbrough's play was "critical in the fourth quarter." The screens he set and the defense he played were very important this afternoon. As a fan, I hope this leads to regular playing time, and as follower of basketball, I think he can help the Hornets become a very good team. The coach also mentioned that the team as a whole had a lot of potential for growth.

<“He did a great job,” Clifford said of Hansbrough. “He is a killer worker. He had two rebounds and he was one for one but he brings a physicality to the floor.”>

Tom Sorenson, sportswriter for the Charlotte Observer, is retiring after 35 years. But first he posted this profile:

It's too early to say much about it, but Hans is leading the team in DefRtg, OffRtg, and NetRtg, just as he did all last season in Toronto, which won a franchise record 49 games. As I have probably mentioned, he was also second in RB%. He is third on the Hornets, but leading the team in TS%. If he gets significant minutes in light of Jefferson's injury, that may go down a bit.

I can get off my soap box now. Tyler should be getting a chance to show what he can do from now on. He was the only player who brought it last night. It's clear he plays well with Kaminsky; we should see more of that going forward. Hopefully Frank and Tyler will get on the same page in blocking out.

coach believe Hawes is a better defensive rebounder, Tyler is good at offensive rebounding... for coach, it is all about defensive rebounding, limiting opponents possessions, so don't expect Tyler to take away Hawes minutes...

Nice article on Tyler on the Hornets' website:

http://www.nba.com/hornets/latest-buzz-two-tylers

<Charlotte’s Marvin Williams was one who was ecstatic to hear that the Hornets had added a fellow Tar Heel in the offseason.

“Tyler is a winner and he competes. He plays hard. I think any time you have a guy like that on your team, on your roster that’s going to come out and give maximum effort every single day, it’s only going to make your team better. He’s always going to be ready to play when his number’s called,” said Williams.>

That was awesome, and unexpected! He is a valuable part of this team.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I was going to request this in gif form cause him running back with that face had me dying.

They should have kept it going and included Gasol throwing his towel. When that happened only 3 of the guys who had played had not hit 3s. Zeller, Hawes and Roberts.

As of today, Hansbrough can be traded. I doubt it will happen until Al Jefferson comes back, if it happens at all.

It boggles my mind that did not play on the second night of a back-to-back against the Celtics, when the team obviously needed more energy, fresh legs, and the defense needed a stronger presence. But if Tyler does make an appearance this week, he needs to be better in control, right from the start.

Since I will be missing most of the rest of the games in December due to holiday travels, except for Saturday, here are a few inconsequential stats to consider. Hansbrough has played only 78 minutes so far, or roughly one-tenth the number of minutes of his friend Marvin Williams. According to Basketball Reference, he leads the team (minimum ten games) in:

Rebounds per 36
Blocks per 36
Fouls per 36
DRtg
ORtg
NetRtg
TRB%
ORB%
WS/48

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CHO/2016.html

Hansbrough is also second in steals per 36, tied for first in fewest turnovers per 36, and second in DBPM to Marvin Williams. No one can say he is not ready when his number is called.

It's unlikely that Hansbrough can be traded right now. He has a honking big wrap on his right knee, so I doubt he would even pass the physical. It looks like the coach tells him in advance when he will come into the game, so he can take off the wrap ahead of time.

Let's be real though, it's not likely he will be traded at all. He's on end of the bench big that signed a one year, $1M contract. No one is going to trade a meaningful asset for him, and we need a cheap end of the bench big anyway so there's no point in trading him.

What Tyler brings is worth much more than he's paid.

He'll be here for the rest of the season imo and most likely next season too.
