Greetings from the Valley of the Sun. I come in peace, and with a trade proposal. What do ya think about this?

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=oux9tho

Phoenix Out- Morris, Goodwin, Swap of '16 1st Rounders with Washington or Cleveland's '16 1st (Wizard's choice)
Phoenix In- Nene

Washington Out- Nene, Humphries
Washington In- Morris, Frye, Swap of '16 1st Rounders with Phoenix or Cleveland's '16 1st (Wizard's choice)

Orlando Out- Frye
Orlando In- Humphries, Goodwin

Why for WSH?- Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Wizards are pretty much in the "win now" or darn soon mode, and so far '15 has been shaky...a Keef Morris and Frye for Nene and Humphries swap could be viewed as a low risk/high reward trade/bet. Markieff is pouting in PHX, he won't be in DC. Frye is better when he's on good teams. Trading Nene's expiring would be a blow to '16 free agency Wiz dreams, but the pick swap with the Suns or adding the Cleveland pick asset lessens that negative. If the Wiz truly believe Durant might come to DC, this deal has no life. Nene's contract retention would seem vital to that hope.

Why for PHX?- Move on from Morris with PF value returned. Archie has no Suns future with Devin Booker's promise. Nene as a better (at least more motivated) big to help get them into the playoffs as owner Sarver wants...and his 13M expiring will be very helpful for the rebuilding picture as GM McDonough wants. Nene as a rental. Cavs #1 or dropping 5 or 7 spots in the draft is their price to pay for the expiring contract.

Why for ORL?- Frye hasn't worked...at least not per the $$ cost. Humphries or Goodwin aren't likely to do a lot for the Magic, but Kris can have his moments (like Frye) and Goodwin just might be a later bloomer...he has talent, but hasn't focused it. Earlier contract expirings than Frye's deal. Yes, it is a rather dull deal from a Magic perspective, but no risk. Magic could get decent return as far as Archie Goodwin if the new surroundings work for him over the next year or two.

No i would do nene, and a 2017 - 2019 first round pick, for morris and len, But that might cause us cap problems this summer ./

For better or worse, Wiz are all in on Durant. That trade is a definite short term upgrade, but probably leaves us as a perpetual treadmill team.

We all loathe Grunfeld and think his all in strategy has a low probability of success. But, we are painted into a corner, so probably just need to hope that, this time, the blind squirrel finds the nut.

Same, Kawhi is improved but he can't come near George's shot creation ability and ball handling. Let me know when Leonard can drop 40 to close out a playoff series on the road (we saw that firsthand ..)

This is the sad, meager optimism of the broken Wizards fan under Ted & Ernie.

With the cap going up and options on blair, webby, and hump to save money, they we can probably swing a trade for a younger long term deal or two and still get KD. it just depends on the deal!

Here's the Durant thing that scares me..the idea of him signing a one year deal in order to get a bigger pay day. Then we're stuck in this limbo for another year.

If he signs a one year deal with us to get a bigger pay day here, which he can, we could still get a tittle out of that one year, if he does a one year in OKC .... wellllllllllll F*******************K

Yea, that's the scary thing. Westbrooks contract ends a year later as does Ibaka I think, so there's a good chance he could sign one year there and they all walk away the year after depending on results.

That means he could still come, it'd just be year later, but another year of limbo? Not sure if we can swing it.

Considering the other contracts, KD pulling a LeBron (signing a 1 year with a player option for a 2nd) does make a lot of sense. But you're right that it leaves us in more limbo. We'd have to decide by this year's deadline if we think he's gonna do that and then make a move to add deals that expire in 2017 so we can take another step forward while still waiting for Durant.

Look Durant knows that this offseason is his chance if he truly does want to come home because of our cap space situation. If he signs a one year deal with OKC that's basically him saying alright I see the opportunity and I'm not interested. I don't see any scenario where we don't use our cap space this offseason. The FO is not going to waste another year of Wall's prime on a tiny chance that he signs here in 2017 when him not signing here in 2016 is him saying he's not interested.

The Wizards are not in "win now" mode. They're positioning for a run at Kevin Durant, or at least a few other good, youngish vets using their cap room this summer. In the meantime, they'd like to stay competitive enough to attract free agents, but they're not going to sacrifice any future pieces just to add a few extra wins this season. They also can't add more than about $8M to next year's cap.

With that in mind it could make sense to add either Frye or Morris, but not both. And they won't give up Nene to make it happen because Nene is their only backup center.

Basically, they might have interest in swapping Humphries and filler (Blair, Webster's contract, Neal) for either Morris or Frye. They won't give up the 2016 pick to make it happen though.

Hmm if we really can add around $8M to next uear's cap without disrupting our other plans, I'll bring Blair+Webster+2nd for Taj Gibson back up. Morris offers youth and upside, but also costs the assets we don't want to give up. Frye is a better shooter, but doesn't help our defense or toughness.

If Chicago wants to clear out a chunk of 2016 salary and open up minutes for Portis, I think it works for both teams.

I was thinking about Grunfeld trading what could have been The draft rights to Steph Curry in exchange for two expiring contracts.

Guess who plays for Denver? Randy Foye and Mike Miller.

Neither player has much game left IMO. There are some players who just keep making rosters.
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen

I am seriously angry right now, as nate said we can't really trade NENE he is our only back up center. Former GT center Henry SIms is still a FA and I have no idea why we have not signed that man yet.

Denver's GM is Tim Connelly - who grew up in the Wiz organization learning from the likes of Chuck Douglas, Wes Unseld, and... Ernie Grunfeld.
