Fan favourite who wanted to play a SSOL style was always going to appeal to Sarver.

Still unsure whether our processes to find a coach are flawed that we'll just repeat what we've done.

Lindsay Hunter was basically shipped out ASAP for not fitting into that culture.

I guess we'd be targetting a GSW coach with the Kerr and uptempo connection.

The Hedo signing was actually really good since it netted us Gortat. Too bad we didn't cash in and trade him when his value was a bit higher. Actually, I think his value hadn't really dipped too much we were just having a discount sale on all players.
Warrick signing was weak because they tried to sell fans that he does all the same dunks that Amare does...

Barring a major turnaround, is it worth letting Horncek's deal expire and pursue Walton this offseason?
Would he even have interest? I am sure he's going to command at least a 5 year 5 mil per deal like Kerr got.
As good as he's been, he still has Curry which would make any coach look great.

Our team does kinda fit the mold of the Warriors (not as talented obviously).
I'd love to see that change.

I've never hit the And1 button so fast before. I think it might be broken now

I do think Hornacek has a place on this team. Assistant coach? Shooting coach?

I don't think we'd retain him. Probably would want to go in a new direction and let Walton pick his staff.

We probably should have tapped the Popovich farm system. All of those guys are doing pretty well. I think Brown in Philly is from the Spurs as well. He has been dealt a very tough hand.

He probably wont. And most like its goodbye to Longabardi, Sichting and whoever else is there. Walton would be a nice pickup, as would Thibs. Let them bring their own staff with them. Trade Morris, Tucker. Let the purge begin.

Earl Watson is the other guy. I was thinking about a poll for those who want Horny fired during the season who they would prefer as interim between Longabardi, Sichting or Watson.

What I'd really like to see is for Hornacek to be able to get a chance to coach the team once Morris and Tucker are traded. McD can't pretend for very much longer that we don't have a big interest in trading Morris. I mean C'MON! I think Hornacek, like some of us, was HOPING Morris could just let it go, but that obviously doesn't seem to be the case, so he has to go. McD can swallow his ego because waiting any longer than then maybe the 20th of this month is too long. Morris can have the ailing knee until then.

Walton would be interesting to see, but coaching these guys would be a major chore compared to coaching GS. I'd definitely prefer him to Thibs though.

And I am surprised the title of the thread is when he gets extended when they have a team option for a year. That's the question. Will they exercise that option? My guess is no.

The Suns really should have went in a different direction this past summer itself. I know me and some others beat the dead horse with the fire Hornacek stuff but its easy to see why we did that now.

Hornacek just is not HC material. He had that fluke first year but that's it. His philosophies (other than dual PG lineup since that's a topic all for its own) are utter rubbish imo and has been for some time now.

Suns look worse than some high school JV team at times.

Maybe Hornacek is smart, but I am not sure he is good at his job. He hasn't shown his ability to lead us to the playoff.

Firing him in the middle of the season would be the better option if we really want the playoff.

Someday I wanna see Danny Manning being a PHX head coach.

While it would be tough for most to turn down a head coaching job, you've got to wonder if a guy like Walton, who is a California guy (though he did go to AZ, but how could you not?) and also a part of perhaps a historical team would leave. And in particular, the Kerr-connection didn't exactly end well, and Gentry (who Walton also coached with last year) was fired by Sarver, so I am not too sure Walton would have great feelings about going to work for a Sarver owned team, particularly since he doesn't pay coaches much. He's got to know that Sarver isn't necessarily the easiest person to work for. But again, it's probably tough for anyone wanting to start a head coaching career to turn something down, though Budenholzer and other assistants often turn down interviews or opportunities.
