Shhh, careful now but ... PG13 MVP?

Post#1 » by EuroPacer » Thu Dec 3, 2015 1:58 pm

Firstly - I am not under the illusion that ignorant fans will vote for him as MVP, so it won't happen.

But he is playing at MVP level at the moment, his average points are closing in on Steph Curry, he is defending his socks off and performing way better than any of the other leading scorers on that front. Even though I know he won't win it, he should definitely be in very high contention if he keeps this level of play up.

The numbers he is putting on the board now are close to what Durant put up in his better seasons, if not better (can't be arsed finding out) and PG is a better defender. When I was watching the Bulls game I was highly amused to hear the home commentators discuss Butler as the best two-way player in the league right now... whilst playing and being dominated by PG13...

Money is on Curry to win it again, but we have a legit MVP candidate on the team and I am loving it.

Before the season I felt PG was easily a top 5 player in the East, now I think hes top 5 in the league. Im hoping he keeps this up and gets 1st team all nba.

Steph is MVP though. I know PG has a big edge on defense, but Steph is killin it this year and the dubs are steamrolling teams. Its his to lose and i dont think PG will be a real threat.

We play them next Tuesday. We'll see what happens. If MVP is the best player on the best team, we'll need to beat them for PG to be a serious contender.

Heard a bit of Mike and Mike today and Greenie was asking if you were starting a team and had to pick one player to build around who would it be. They mentioned only Lebron, Curry, and Davis. PG wasn't in the conversation.

Would you start a franchise with Lebron these days? I wouldn't, I am not saying he is past it, but his longevity is waning. It is actually annoying me how PG and the Pacers are completely underlit in basketball media, with the internet it is really easy for me to stay up to date (as opposed to when I first became a Pacernut in the early 90s) and frankly it is ridiculous that rubbish teams like the Lakers and Philly get more coverage than the Pacers do. But as I live in Britain: Middle-finger firmly up and long live the underdog!

There's absolutely no way anyone's voting against the best player in the league currently that is undefeated - Steph Curry. It can't and won't happen.

Still, PG is #2 or #3 right now, I think.

But seriously, his defense is getting overshadowed by all of his offensive success. However, Steph Curry has true shooting percentage of 70%. Steph is playing the kind of offense that nullifies Paul's advantage on the defensive end. He's blasting Paul in almost every metric and more than Paul seems like he just chooses to drop 40 some nights. Paul has a shaky start hurting his numbers, too. It'll be really interesting to see him vs. Kawhi, the other under-the-radar MVP candidate who is quietly dominating the league.

If Curry remains hot,GSW wins a lot... then....Curry is it. George and LeBron will be the next in line. George is playing damn good. GSW vs Indy should be a very fun game.

I'd go with Curry-George 1-2 ( not a Pacer fan)..Davis is fragile and isnt having the impact I thought he'd have this season..LJ's too old and comes with too much ego/baggage..Durant seems to have lost some athleticism and aggressivneess due to multiple foot surgeries..
