Celtics beat the Thunder in OKC. Stuff is getting real. 27-25 East. Nets and Sixers are keeping the west in this race.

Update

The east is 7-0 vs the west the past 2 nights.

48-42 edge east overall this season (45-29 outside of Brooklyn and Philly, who actually both beat a west team last night for once)

East w/ the 54-47 edge against the West.

Philly and Brooklyn are combined 3-13 against the West. NO and LAL are combined 3-11 against the East.

How do you collect these info? Any stat for East/West top 8 teams against each other? Top 4 East/West against each other?

The West is a joke. Some mediocre teams in the West (the 6th seeded Clippers with barely over .500 record etc.) wouldn't even make the playoffs in the East yet they are considered as one of the "contenders" in the West. Golden State can pretty much walk into the finals again. At the same time, Cavaliers have to fight their way to the finals where they'll meet the well rested Warriors team. Same **** every year.

Not sure how much we can make off of the GSW's record at this point. They are really beating up on an inferior conference and it is clearly taking some impact out of their current winning streak. Very sad. The NBA should put an asterisk next to them in the standings and need to start exploring which team to move from the EC to WC to narrow the conference gap. It's extremely unfair for the excellent Eastern teams that will miss the playoffs despite playing entertaining basketball night in and night out.

Spurs Warriors Thunder are elite but outside of that, the West is very overrated

i question the Thunder being elite they looked pedestrian of late. Yes, they have elite potential and could put a run together prior to entering the playoffs but at this moment they aren't an elite team.

So how does having 3 elite teams vs 1 make the West very overrated?

Yeah what a joke. Even the Celtics would be 20-0 in the West. Sheesh give me a break. I'd move the Spurs and the Grizzlies to the east and send the Wizards and Bucks to the west.

The east still needs some consistency. Pacers has been performing at a really high level, yet they lost to Portland. Detroit showed a lot of promises a couple of weeks ago, I even thought they would leapfrog the Raptors and Heat as #3 powerhouse in east, now they are also up and down. Oh Raptors, Denver really? And good lord what happened to the Wizards and Bucks defense?

During the past few west domination years, if you look at west top 4, they boast a winning record between 60%-70% against the east. You can pretty much put money on them going into any given night playing a none-Cav non-Hawk east team. They would lead the game from start to end and win in convincing fashion, if not blowing out, in majority of those games. East still need to establish more powerhouses, and slot more guys into all nba 1st/2nd/3rd teams and send more guy to MVP/PER/VORP top table at the end of the season.

Having said that, things really start to change now. Even as a long term east doubter, it's refreshing and exciting to see this balance shift. Whoever denies the rise of east, or still looking for excuse like 'nah at the end of the season it will be same old same old', are just delusional.

Thunder arent elite.

And if the Spurs are elite, then so are the Bulls, Heat, and Pacers. If the Thunder are elite, then so are the Raptors, Hawks, Magic, Hornets, and Celtics

I wish it wasn't mainly because Dallas and Portland suck now.

The East has one contender and everyone in the East knows it. No one outside CLE has a shot. Honestly, CLE looks pedestrian. Lebron getting pissed because his doesn't have any fire, Mozgov getting marginalized, Kevin Love not really taking the next step. Everyone is waiting for Kyrie to come save the day. Losing to to average/below average teams like Detroit, Washington, and Milwaukee.

Honestly, it does look like the Warriors are a step above the entire league. These so called superstars need to start playing like superstars......

The East has way more good teams than the West don't kid yourself.

And it wouldn't say that no one outside of CLE has a shot. Same could be said for the West. The West is pure trash this year. 6 teams over .500

Thats pathetic.

While I don't necessarily disagree, I'll play devil's advocate.

GSW is red hot right now and Curry is playing well above last year's pace and his normal performance growth curve. I don't think even the most ardent GSW fan thinks they can keep this up to next June, so come playoff time they may not be as hot.

CLE won 2 games against GSW in last season's Finals without Irving and Love. GSW appears even better this year but if all of Lebron-Irving-Love are healthy and they get hot in 2nd half of season, then if/when they meet in the Finals again this season, it could be interesting. At least interesting enough to refute the "one contender" notion.
