Virginia Tech has hired Justin Fuente to replace legendary head coach Frank Beamer, the school announced Sunday. Longtime Hokie defensive coordinator Bud Foster will also stay on Fuente's staff.
A former Virginia Tech cornerback, Beamer coached the Hokies from 1987 to 2015. He transformed the program into a Mid-Atlantic power, leading the team to 23 consecutive bowl games (the longest streak in the nation). Foster followed Beamer from Murray State, and has been the Hokies' defensive coordinator since 1995.

I am eternally grateful for Justin Fuente. He will be brilliant wherever life takes him.

I wish him luck as he moves on to his next adventure. Now the University has to figure out who will the next coach will be and will he make enough of a difference to the football program like Fuente has done during his tenure.

Looks like Memphis has just hired another rising star, 34 year-old offensive coordinator Mike Norvell from Arizona State, in a move that eerily mirrors the Justin Fuente hire 4 years ago.
Really love this hire. Barry Odom seemed like a bit of a meathead to me - glad we went with a guy who supposedly has a brilliant offensive mind.
The program is certainly on the rise - this guy was a top-3 coordinator prospect and he came here.

Hope this guy Norvell works out for the U of M and can carry the program as far like Fuente plus more. I will admit I don't know much about Norvell, but I'm willing to take a chance on him to see what his capabilities will better the Tigers from this day forward.
