3rd time this season the Bears have taken a 7-point lead with under 5 minutes left and lost. Unbelievable.

That's what happens when your entire coaching mindset is based on the philosophy of "play not to lose."
Adam Gase and John Fox are some of the most conservative coaches you will ever see in the NFL, especially in today's NFL.
I don't think I saw a single playaction throw on first down throughout the entire game. These guys need to grow some effing balls.

I really hated that we played for a FG at the end of regulation. Not that it was stupid (in hindsight it was a mistake, kinda) i just want a Cutler to Jeffery TD since they are on my fantasy team.

This should have been the easiest win of the season but instead we let Gabbert run away with our playoff chances. Time to lose out.

I don't like the decision to run out the clock knowing that Gould had missed his last FG from around that distance. They should've taken a couple shots at the endzone, or at least tried to get closer. If they got a TD, it would be very unlikely for the 49ers to tie it with under 30s and no TO's.

Re: GT: Bears vs. 49ers
I absolutely don't blame the coaches for this one.
This is the NFL. If you are a team like the Bears that doesn't have the talent to dominate either side of the ball and your opponent plays a clean game (i.e., no turnovers) you simply can't miss two field goal attempts of 40 yards or less.
The snaps and holds looked good enough. Gould, God love him, just had one of those days.

Cutler, Jeffery, Bennett, Forte, Langford, and a very good oline. We definitely have the talent to dominate on offense.

Re: GT: Bears vs. 49ers
Forte is a top-25% performer. Bennett might have been last season, but not this one. Cutler is having a very good season, but he's no better than the 10th-best QB in the league. Jeffery has been to a Pro Bowl, but has yet to establish himself as a #1 target. The other wide receivers are questionable NFL-level talent. The offensive line is average at best with only Long and Slauson being clearly above average. Cutler has had a good year I think the Bears rank in the second half of the league in most offensive statistics.patryk7754 wrote:transplant wrote:I absolutely don't blame the coaches for this one.

Dominant? I don't see it.

Yeah, not sure how this is on the coaching staff.
This loss comes down to player execution. Gould missing two field goals and 2 big broken coverage plays on defense that gave the niners 13 points late in the 4th and OT combined. Mostly I would say Robbie chocking in regulation.
That wasn't a coaching loss, it was a players loss.

Re: GT: Bears vs. 49ers
I'm actually wondering if the team blew their load last week beating the Packers. They certainly celebrated afterwards like they had just won the Superbowl.
They probably were feeling really good about themselves coming home against a really weak opponent and played half assed and blew it. Essentially ending any playoff hopes they may have had left.

It was a 36 yard FG. That is one of the easiest ones you can give Robbie who has made a career out of making those.
It wasn't a poor decision. It was a player execution fail.

Yeah, the coaching staff is the last place to look for blame here
.... one man to blame for this loss. Gould.

I'm not blaming the coaches for Gould missing the last FG I just disagree with playing to kick a FG. I think they should have had regular play calling and if the score a TD then they score if they don't them they don't

And if they fumble or throw an interception, Fox gets crucified...and I'd help the execution team.patryk7754 wrote:I'm not blaming the coaches for Gould missing the last FG I just disagree with playing to kick a FG.
