People think when MKG comes back we will automatically be better. He does not space the floor like PJ because he roams a lot more than PJ does. He also takes more shots than PJ does so that will somewhat take away from the other players. He is also injured a lot more and demands a much higher pricetag which we could put elsewhere

I don't see MKG being a problem at all. If he comes back this year I'd assume he'll begin on the second unit surrounded by 4 shooters. Lin, MKG, Batum, Frank, Hawes would actually be a pretty incredible 5 no backups would want to deal with. The only condition would be to avoid prolonged minutes with Cody.

I wouldn't even sweat Al. There's no decision to be made between the 2. Al sits or goes.

(Kemba dribbles past horns down to the right elbow, then ball swings ball back up top, and eventually to Batum on the left wing. As Batum's side PnR develops, Kemba sets a screen for PJ in the opposite corner, Batum then passes to PJ who misses.)

Personnel wise, Batum is better at making this kind of pass than Kemba, who for whatever reason rarely sees or attempts to pass across the paint. (I think of how Rose, similar in size to Kemba, often has to jump and use his vertical to be able to make cross-court passes to opposite side, so Batum's size certainly helps.)

One of my complaints about Cliff's offense is that the team doesn't shoot enough corner 3s, so it was nice to see this tonight. Anyone recall another example of this in this season?

I think Lin set a screen for Lamb for a corner three once. Kinda similar

Oh yeah, I noticed that as well. It's hard to tell whether that is a previously installed thing or whether Kemba improvised. Because in some ways it looks like he just had a hunch that he could free up Hairston in such a manner.

Ironically, we started our game at San Antonio with one (them being the ones who popularized such mis-direction PnRs on one side of the floor, while a hammer screen takes place on the other).
