Cowboys Lead Up

Post#1 » by WiscoKing13 » Sun Dec 6, 2015 10:05 pm

3:25 start at Lambeau on Sunday.

Cowboys overview. Starts with Romo being out and Cassel being the starter is the main reason they come into the game with 3 wins. Their offensive line is the best in football hands down, which is why Mcfadden has so well the last 3 or so games. This will be a huge test for the packers who have had a very good run D this season. Outside of Dez, the cowboys really lack any other threat in the passing game. Williams and Beasley are speedsters who do well in space and Witten isn't the player he once was and is only good for check downs. IF the packer secondary is healthy, this should be an easy team to put away early.

Defensively they have a below average line, outside of Hardy. Even though I think Hardy is an awful human being, he's a great football player and if we have Barclay or Taylor on the field Rodgers is in trouble. Linebackers are solid but nothing great, Lee hasn't been the player he was since coming back this year and McClain has struggled with injuries. The secondary is awful for the Cowboys, you would hope our game planning comes around this week and takes care of it.

This should be an easy win for the packers, but nothing has been easy since the SD game. This is the first of two "bye" weeks where if the packers are going to firmly get our offensive scheme sorted out, these are two great opponents to install in tactics and schemes to use in the playoffs.

Story lines

Health-Packers one of Bulaga and Lang back this week, we can't expect Rodgers continue to take a pounding and the offense to improve. This wouldn't be an awful week for Randall to take another week to come back, since Rollins shouldn't have an issue at outside this week. Montgomery? Wonder if this is the week he finally comes back from the ankle injury.

The week Quarless comes back? He practiced late last week, I would think they take one more week to get his feet under him. Also wonder who they cut, I would assume backman. We have an open spot on the P/S squad but I would be surprised if we keep 2 TE's on the P/S.

Can Lacey show the commitment this week that coaches are demanding? We'll find out on Sunday, but it's getting pretty bad when they don't want Harris on the roster as a distraction to Lacey.

The "easiest" of our remaining games but nothing is easy with this team. Lots of momentum with the Lions win followed by Chicago and Minnesota losses. And hopefully another Minnesota loss on Thursday.

This is literally must win.

If Cowboys win tomorrow night they'll be a game out of the division lead. Crazy

That's why Sunday's game isn't must win. Now it's obvious if we want to be a super bowl team we need to beat a team like Dallas and win convincingly(unlike the DET game). But if you lock up the division, we have a pretty good shot of playing SEA. If we some how fall to the 5 or 6 spot, we either go to the NFC east winner or Minnesota. That's an easier route IMO.

Cowboys Lead Up

Post#5 » by thomchatt3rton » Sun Dec 6, 2015 10:45 pm

^^ How awful would it be to lose at home to a Romo-less Cowboys team though?

ETA: I guess if we're still really banged up on Sunday, thatd make losing a game like this less psychologically damaging but still- itd be an awful squandering of the Detroit momentum

Hopefully our O-Line gets healthy by Sunday.

Having Montgomery and Quarless back should only help this offense. Montgomery's physical play is sorely missing from a soft WR unit. ARod trusts Quarless and he's more athletic than Dick Rod.

How is Montgomery a physical WR?

I think Quarless will help some, but Rodgers is a better route runner and has better hands. It's not like Quarless has ever been known for stretching the field. He will however defiantly help in run blocking.

I think Quarless and Ty coming back should help quite a bit. Theyre more than the sum of their parts. With those guys available, we should be able to run some different plays, show some different sets etc.
Think back to what our offense looked like early this year when we were able to move the ball- 2TE sets, Ty in backfield moving around, hurry-up package etc etc.

Way too early to think about playoff positioning. This offense desperately needs to break out of this funk and you figure it has to be against a team as bad as the Cowboys. No excuse to not blow them out really, but I feel we've been saying that 3 of the last 4 weeks.

Ty was trucking people and breaking tackles

None of the current crop of WR has been doing that

No easy games. We needed a miracle to beat the Lions.

Hope the offensive staff gets slapped into stopping 99% ISO routes with guys that can't beat 1 on 1 coverage.

I get that worked before but this late into the season u gotta realize it's not working.

I'm still seeing way too much vertical and ISO not enough other stuff. Please oh please let this be the week the open up the playbook.

JS just in time to rain on another parade...

A parking attendant told a police dispatcher he feared for his safety when he saw a man, later identified as Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless, fire a gun in the air outside a Miami Beach night club in July during an argument with a woman, according to newly released 911 calls.

The 911 calls were released last week by the Miami Dade state's attorney in response to a record request by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Also released were photos showing the gun hidden in a plant and a Packers hat left at the scene after Quarless' arrest.

The attendant told a dispatcher Quarless fired the gun twice and then fled. Police later found Quarless hiding near a bush, according to reports.

"All I know is that I saw a gun, there was a conflict going on and then I heard the two booms," the attendant said on the 911 recording. "I just was calling for my own safety because I heard two shots, I saw a gun and there was a conflict but apparently everybody left now."

What new info did they get beside the picture? I was in the camp to cut his ass when it happened, but I don't understand what new information was given.

If we don't win, we don't deserve the playoffs.
-They are without their starting QB.
-We have the superior talent.
-They will be coming off a short week.
-We will have 3 extra days of rest.
-We are at home.

If we lose, the coaches better be on the hot seat.

It took long enough but finally Jake Ryan is the starting ILB (not by announcement but by his snap count and play on the field):

http://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2015/12/7/9867070/packers-lions-snap-counts-jake-ryan-is-officially-your-starter-at-ilb

His stat total from detroit(lead the defense in tackles) 10tckles, 6 solo, 1 TFL.

About friggin time.

It also took them forever to realize Randall was a better starter outside than Hayward.

Maybe there is hope they will the current routes with 3 gimpy/slow WRs is a bad idea and they will mix that up too? If they are stubborn but FINALLY realize it's time to make a change, maybe I can hold out hope they will do it for the offense as well.

McGinn on Ryan

Jake Ryan, who played one snap in the last three games compared to Nate Palmer's 147, had the 49-0 advantage this time in their fight for playing time. Early, Ryan looked like someone who hadn't played in a month. He paid a terrible physical price, too, playing high and getting buffeted by offensive linemen in the run game. Later, he settled in, slipped off some blocks and bear-hugged a few ball carriers. He lit up Burton on an iso and made the tackle. He reacted nicely and made a textbook recovery of Matthew Stafford's game-changing fumble.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
