Why play aginst a struggling team, and not your former team that's near the top of the conference at the moment? U should know Lebron by now to know that no one tells him to sit out, unleas it's his call or it's the final game of the year in which all players will agree to.
Well they couldn't predict that the Pelicans game would go to OT and LeBron would have to exert so much energy in 45 minutes of play. The original plan was obviously for him to play both games, but Blatt made the decision a few hours before the game. And they probably didn't expect to lose to the struggling Pelicans, so they figured that if you're going to rest LeBron at all, it might as well be when the team is playing terribly, tired after coming off an OT game the night before, and likely to lose anyways. Plus it makes sense to play LeBron against the team that you have a better chance of winning with him vs. without him.
I still don't buy that it was Blatt's call....I mean, we all know who runs the team, byt yeah, the OT probably played a role in him sitting out. I still don't like it. Injuries aside, suit up and play. Keep his minutes short...at least in the first half. The fact that he went partying afterwards makes him look bad.
But LeBron did say he wanted to play in all 82 games and reports say that LeBron wasn't happy about having to sit out. I think it's pretty established that Blatt made the call.
And he did party afterwards, but that doesn't really put any strain on him physically, which was the whole point of sitting him out. I don't have a problem with NBA players partying once in a while. He only drinks in the offseason, so he was pretty much just hanging out and socializing.
