Pacers lose at Jazz

But crikey what a brilliant spectacle to watch. We weren't at the races in the first half, at all. I blame West Coast times, but then slowly but surely it became clear PG13 was determined to win. We would have won had George Hill and Monta Ellis been on their game, I make this two in a row for Ellis, not sure why he played so poor and so few minutes in the last game as I didn't watch it, does he have a niggling injury?

I think Ellis may have some small lingering effects, but nothing serious. It was moreso that Stuckey was playing very well last night and having both on the floor is tough.

We really lost that game almost entirely because Favors dominated our bigs and Booker, to a lesser extent, dominated on the glass (that 10 straight points by Neto in the 3rd that came out of nowhere didn't help either). Hayward was off most of the night and Burke was the only other guy on the Jazz who did much on offense. Ian getting into foul trouble really hurt us. While Hill has been good as a bench big for us, he's oddly kind of poor at defensive rebounding and near elite at offensive rebounding and Allen still seems prone to lapses at times. Having Turner would have really helped as I'm not sold on Hill as a center against bigger teams.

To me it comes down to our legs. Portland revealed what happens when we only expend effort on one end of the court, and Utah was a lesser version of that. The fact that both games were close is a testament to how far our offense has come on days where we don't even have rebounding or defense. At the same time, I'm sure Vogel will have a lot to do in the next two days of practice before we have the Warriors.

I am concerned about Allen, I was very high on him at first (I liked the Granger trade due to him being part of it) but now that he really has a chance he seems to be failing to grab it. I expect more of him and I am sure Vogel and Bird do too. (especially on a team that is light on good bigs).

The Jazz pick-an-roll killed us, essp down the stretch. Besides the play George fell and Hayward got the breakaway dunk, I think every other play was a pick-an-roll from late 4th and ot.

Imo there's no excuse to lose when someone scores 48 points. Stuckey played well but other then that nobody else stepped up. Essp late. Frustrating to watch.

I'm fine with what he's been doing. He'll never fill up a box score, but he's probably been our best big at setting screens and is still solid on the boards. Yeah his numbers are a bit down to start the year, but he's also been the one big whose playing time has not been consistent.

Vogel blew that game. with a few seconds left and up by two with PG on the line he put two bigs in two get a possible rebound. there was no rebound and the Jazz just ran down court without taking a time out and out bigs were too slow to get past mid-court. even then if we'd just let them make the layup without fouling we still would have been in good shape.

That 3 point play that tied it stinks. The should have let him have the 2 and passed it in to PG or GH.
