EC vs WC

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Tue Dec 8, 2015 4:50 am

It's pretty amazing, but the 10th seed in the EC has a better record than the 8th seed in the west, and the 11 seed is damn close. Even if we miss the playoff with the 9th seed again (which we again are now), today we would get the 8th through 10th pick.

If we did make the playoffs and likely get swept or close to it by the Warriors or Spurs, we would end up with the 15th or 16th pick.

Which would you prefer? 8th pick and no playoffs or getting swept in the first round with the 15th pick?

I'd prefer the playoffs, because I think McD is good at making picks in that range, but the silver lining is we may get a MUCH better pick if we miss. Unfortunately, it has been talked about how this is a weak draft.

I want as many picks in the 2017 draft. Deep talent and star power. I think it will go down as one of the best drafts in 20 yrs. if/when we make some trades it would be nice to get a pick in return.

Crazy start for EC... I still think it's a fluke but we're seeing a lot of WC teams underperfoming right now.
Of course if I had to pick, I'd like to have a chance to draft a really good guy in top10, but I dont think we're bad enough to do it anymore.

So, we can only move forward here and try to improve this team as best as we can do.

It's crazy how evenly matched the eastern conference is at the moment

#8 seed only 1.5 games behind #1
#10 seed only 2 games behind #1

In other words the 8th seed Celtics are as close to the #1 seed in the East as the 9th seed Suns are from the 8th in the West :o

It is crazy that Orlando and Detroit (9th/10th) are only two games behind Cleveland for the 1 spot. Of course we play Orlando next.

Wasn't 2014 supposed to be one of the best drafts? Yet it is pretty disappointing for me, 2015 draft already looks better. Or 2011 draft was predicted to be terrible but it turned out very good imo. It's hard to predict how good draft will be a year ahead and people are always overreacting.
So I hope 2016 won't be as bad especially when Suns pick may be higher than 14th this time :)

No overreaction from me. Just stating that I "think" it will be a good draft and I am not the only one. Just my opinion. Thanks for yours.

so far, the East is .500 against the West.

i think that as a Suns fan, i would like to make the playoffs. all you have to do is say the word "playoffs" and i'm in.

i had a feeling the Knicks and Hornets would be in the mix. Batum and Kaminsky were the perfect pieces to add to a team that shoots a lot of midrange shots. also, Calderon/Afflalo/Porzingis is not unlike Felton/J.R./Novak from the last time the Knicks made the playoffs. if Toronto deals DeRozan, as i fully expect them to do, Orlando and the Knicks could definitely overtake them, as well as Boston. if i were the Wizards, i would start writing my chorus parts for "Come Home KD."

Wow, I can't believe Atlanta is suddenly in 10th place in their conference. Of course they are only three games out of first. That conference is insane. That conference is going to be more exciting than the WC for once.

And the silver lining if we don't make the playoffs and get the 9th or 10th seed, we likely get the 10th pick or so, instead of 14th, of course again when we get a top 10 pick it is in a bad draft, but I trust McD's scouting.

We need to make the playoffs. I think there is a better chance of signing at least an impact free agent than there is drafting a rookie who pans out. The playoffs are great for our team's off season resume. "This up and coming team made the playoffs last year and thinks you can be part of what makes us a contender" is a much better pitch than "This team missed the playoffs...". And let's face it, the home crowd has been pretty lack luster. The playoffs would spark more interest in our team heading into next season.

I don't want another draft pick right now. We got enough players fighting for playing time, and we got enough projects to add to that with Warren/Len/Booker/Archie. Bogdon also comes over next season. If we are to get another rookie, I expect them to be a high energy super athlete who is projected to be a defensive specialist, something of that sort.

Mayby I'm a pessimist but I don't belive Suns will make the playoffs this season. It will be 9th seed as always.
