Frye and Smith were awful, I don't care if they positioned themselves in front of a player, that's their job.

Nicholson was nice though. It seems like any given night that one of them is good for a really good game, so at least that is a nice thing to have off of the bench.

Man, what game were you watching? I didn't catch the first half, but it seemed like whenever I looked up, I saw Jason Smith getting a big stop at the rim -- and Andrew Nicholson scooping up the rebound.

Smith's shot wasn't dropping, but he was definitely affecting the defensive end and playing really well.

The Nicholson/Smith front court in combination with Oladipo has been really solid.

What are the thoughts on PHX? Are they more/less difficult than say Boston or Denver tonight as a general rule?

I saw someone say recently they've been feasting on teams coming into town on back-to-backs. They recently lost a bunch of heart breakers, then won a close game of their own.

It's still hard to get a read on our team so who knows what will happen.

couldn't find the article where i originally saw that so i looked it up: teams playing in phoenix on the 2nd night of a back-to-back are 0-4 this season with an average margin of defeat of 19.5.

gotta wonder what our energy will be like after tonight's game. phoenix will be coming off of a day's rest.

Who cares anyhow, this team is gelling now and we're starting to see the results. People don't wanna be here that's upto them.

I think the Hawks are taking a step back this year. Magic have taken 2 to 3 steps forward and he was a great fit here.

Im actually glad he didn't come here, and really don't think he is a good fit at all. For starters, he would mean we have locked in the Vuc, Millsap, Tobias forward rotation, which I don't think has enough spacing. Secondly, he isn't on the same timeline as the rest of our guys, and would be a clear step away from the "organic" growth of this team. I far prefer what we are seeing now, which is out young guys maturing and doing it on their own. Thirdly, he was freaking expensive.

I agree with the idea that he's not on the same timeline, but I feel that perhaps the reason RH wanted to sign him in the first place is that he maybe sees where our roster, as currently comprised, maxes out, and it's not enough. Millsap would have been that "Sheed" to our attempt at a Pistons-style team. Just my opinion.

Also, I was bummed when I saw that he punked us (sorta), but that doesn't mean that ATL wouldn't trade him to us if something came up in the near future. If not, then on to better things. We're going to be fine.

The NBA is weird as hell so we might surprise Phoenix with more energy tomorrow. Goodness knows we've looked flat against teams that were put through the ringer by Miami the night before.

I don't want to dwell on this too much, but spacing isn't the be-all, end-all for success. Sometimes it helps simply to have a really good player on the court. Not to mention his defensive impact, at least until he loses a step.

Totally agree. Smith has been so tough for us and Nicholson play of late has been truly an amazing turn around.

Also he is a Center and we have one of those already...and he's pretty good and just turned 25

This was a hilariously ugly game. We couldn't make a jumpshot all night and Denver played really dumb basketball offensively in the second half, taking so many quick tough shots. Credit to our D though, it really stepped up in the second half.

If Payton continues to finish so well on his drives, it would be great news for the team.
