Ask Rob Hennigan

Post#1 » by Baka_La Flame » Tue Dec 8, 2015 6:22 am

If you could ask RoB Hennigan 3 questions(with him answering honestly and openly of course lol) what would they be? A few of mines would be

What did our draft board look like in 2014 and last year?

Do you see Aaron Gordon as more of a 3 or 4 long term?

What were some of the other offers on the table before we ended up ultimalty trading Dwight to LA?

Was there any serious dialogue with Thibs this off season?

Do you think we have a future star player on the current roster?

Did you agree with Presti that trading Harden was the right move at the time?

I know I broke my own rule but general managers have always fascinated me as a sports fan. I would give anything to get s behind the scenes look at the way things are handled in the FO.

I have one broader topic that breaks down into a couple of questions.

What is your end game for this roster? Right now I see a lot of guys with potential All-Star ceilings (Vuc, Tobias, AG, Hezonja, Fournier, Dipo, Payton) but no-one who screams future superstar. Do you think we can build a championship level team like the 2004 Pistons* who had several stars but no superstar, or is the final solution going to be trading 2 or 3 of those guys for a legit alpha player to lead the rest? Finally how has your original vision for the roster you wanted to build, from when you originally blew up the remains of the Otis Smith team, changed due to where we have drafted/free agency impacts, etc.?

*I am talking about in terms of the overall talent level of the players, not in terms of how that talent was concentrated or how the team was built. The Pistons were defense heavy and played as such, with a DPOY at center, an under-appreciated defender at PF, all-defense players at SF and PG. Most of our roster is made up of guys who lay their hat on offense rather than defense at this stage of their career, but Skiles is obviously working to change that.

Did you get a kickback from Milsap over the summer to inflate his free agency value?

Why did you let O'quinn walk for free?

Why did you trade Harkless for practically nothing?

Why did you let go of or at least get something for BBD?

Same answer for all 3: they f*cking suck. Nobody would give up anything of value for players who suck.

Out of all the questions you could ask, you would waste it on those 3?

Was Jacque Vaughn hired to be a tank commander or did you actually think he would be a good coach for the Magic?

I'm glad this board isn't living up to it's reputation of making snap judgements about stuff.
