(Byron) Scott denied that he has taken a different approach to coaching (D’Angelo) Russell as opposed to (Chris) Paul or (Kyrie) Irving but made it clear that they are just different players. “I think both of those guys were probably more mature and a little bit further ahead from where D.A. is right now,” Scott said. “He still has a way to go. Those guys were a bit more polished when they got in the league, so it wasn’t much I had to do with them. Just give them the ball and say, ‘Do this and that and this.’ This kid, I’m going to have to start from scratch pretty much. But I still think he’s going to be a pretty damn good player.”

kyrie- 18pt/3reb/5ast/1stl/3to in 30 min as a 1st option
cp3- 16pt/4reb/7ast/2stl/2to in 36 min as a 2nd option
d'lo-10pt/4reb/3ast/1stl/2to in 27 min as a 4th? 5th? option

Well it's not a crime to not be as good as those two. He should have more playing time though.

He's bee averaging 27.4 per game, we'll see what he averages now with him coming off the bench... even if it's a few minutes less per game I think it will/could be better quality minutes not sharing the time with Kobe...

Agree with the not being a crime to not be compared to those two... also still early in the season, not wanting to do the work myself on my phone I wonder what CP3s' and Kyries' number looked like early in the season vs the end...

man this guy is 19,he can play at least 30-35 minutes a night without breaking a sweat. **** he could probably play pick up games all day and still play those minutes in a real nab game.

That's true but what good are the extra minutes if it's spent playing the wrong way?

When Kobe is on the floor they play different than when he's off. I see this as a way for those two to get some minutes playing the way they practice and will be playing next year.

Nothing permanent they'll be starting again soon enough but for now they can hopefully get some quality minutes away from the circus atmosphere surrounding the team when Kobe's on the floor... Especially the start if the game

Then the solution is to limit kobe's minute, not our young picks'. But you know what byron have to say on that.

I don't have a problem with what Byron said in that article. I think it's true. The only thing I have a problem with is that he apparently was a pivotal reason as to why the Laker's drafted D'Angelo over Porzingis and Okafor. He criticized Porzingis of not being ready to contribute right away when in reality, it was his guy, D'Angelo, that isn't ready. Nonetheless, D'Angelo is still young. Even though I haven't seen much this season, he can hopefully still break out in the future.

Dlo is doing just fine... Looking like a solid pick. We'll know more in a couple years but right now I have no problem with the pick no matter who's idea it was. Although I'm pretty sure it was a consensus pick with input from many in the organization

The season is barely about 30% done. At 19, the kid is real good and is going to be a bad ass. He is an intelligent player too that doesn't rely on athleticism. He's got a hi ball iq at 19 years old. To me, it is laughable how people make comments like "he is showing signs, etc." Even Billy Mac saying stuff like that. The reality is, he just hasn't been put in a position to suceed thus far. But 12ppg, 5rpg, 3apg in 27mpg for a 19 year old rookie point guard is actually really good, and like I said the season is only 30% done.
