I guess comparing Lin/Zingisanity?

It really just sounds like Cuban wanted an excuse to deride Lin, presumably for spurning the Mavs this offseason.

another lin article.

Lin is playing 52.4 percent of his minutes at shooting guard, according to Nylon Calculus’ Seth Partnow’s player production statistics, but he is averaging 13.0 points and 3.1 assists per 36 minutes there. Compare that to 20.2 points and 6.1 assists per 36 minutes at point guard — while leading the Hornets to scoring 14.9 points per 48 minutes more than their opponents.

Good stuff in that article:

The Hornets coach, who received an extension last month and is lauded for his prowess with a clipboard, told Lin he would help him develop his game and give him opportunities not afforded to a player who has spent the past three seasons with Harden and Kobe Bryant.

“He's done that to some degree,” Lin said. “I know clearly what he expects from me. … But that's why I feel like it's a process. I feel like he's going to continue to learn my game to see what I can do. Obviously watching film is one thing, but implementing it into a game, into a full situation is another thing.

“As time goes on, we'll just be more and more comfortable, and I'll be able to pick my spots in the offense, and he'll be able to see what really works, what I can do well — not just what I can do well, period, but what I can do well that fits with the guys and the system. … It takes time.”

The Jeremys often start the fourth quarter together — they lead the team in fourth-quarter minutes — but one typically is replaced by Walker midway through the period.

“We respect that, and it's just our job to be ready whenever our number's called,” Lin said. “We're just trying to win games, man. We're trying to win games and be as productive as we can we when we get on the floor.”

Love Lin, the dude gets it.

I think the mods need to regulate some of the unwarranted jabs/snark against Lin fans. I'd say 90% of the Lin fans on this site have been team-oriented, and even some of the bizarre ones who harp about more playing time believe that this is not only to Lin's benefit but the benefit of the team. I haven't seen a single Lin fan who has argued for more playing time if it meant that the Hornets would play worse. I know that long-timers here should get the benefit of the doubt but I see the mods regulate/censor Lin fans but snark against Lin fans goes unchecked. *END WHINE*

Regarding Lin's quotes in the article above, it's a matter of perspective. He says, "[Cliff] has [helped him develop his game and given him opportunities] to *some* degree." Asterisks mine. This, to me, sounds like a qualified statement with reservation rather than 100% satisfaction. Lin sounds like someone who is, in general, satisfied with Cliff's approach but clearly believes that Cliff doesn't fully understand just yet his potential as he himself sees it. The point of all this is that Lin is a team player who is open-minded about Cliff's approach and sees that his role is a long-term iterative process BUT the status quo is not ideal from his perspective. I think we'll get to a good result in the end.

BTW, I've seen bws94 on other team sites where Lin has played (Rockets maybe) so he's clearly a Lin fan as well.

Also, my second point is a followup to previous discussions on this site where we've debated what Lin is thinking versus what his fans perceive Lin to be thinking. In this case, Lin's own words are instructive.

Roy, the more extreme fans are gone. One even asked out. Mostly, Lin fans here are terrific. Some snipes are to be expected when some fans don't post anything other than Lin comments on team threads. And these are the small minority here for sure. I can understand the frustration and I really like mods here. If things get too snarky I think they'll post about it. But I understand the spirit where you are coming from and think it's a good place.

I'm definitely a Lin fan yet on some Lin sites some don't like me there much at all.

I don't think it is mods job to do that, but I totally agree with you, I also found those unwarranted jabs/snark are annoying and unnecessary.

Totally agree with you regarding Lin's quote. Just as he said, it is a long process, and it is definitely not the end product yet, but Lin is willing to give it time to work towards there, in a way that benefit the team is the first priority.

I don't disagree, and that fits the spirit of the warnings that have been issued in other threads. With that said, moderating has generally been relaxed in this thread or else a larger number of Lin fans would not be able to post on the board at all, and you should expect this thread to continue to receive a lighter touch from the mods going forward.

The mods are aware of posters that came to the board because of Lin but are actively engaged in other topics and are positive contributors to the board, and we agree that those posters should feel free to express their opinions on the team without consistently being mocked.

Just when I finally gotten used to Lin's hairdo... he went and changed it again. Oh boy.

To be honest I think that I prefer the hair style he had the first year he was with the Rocket. Maybe not as "stylish" as what he is going for now but just feels more him.

bws94 wrote:TOs aren't all that much his problem. He had 1 in the last game, 0 the game before. Really, it's more his ball handling and getting too amped up and going too fast at some parts of his game. Then there is decision making which is sometimes head-scratching.

If whatever he did doesn't turn into TOs, why not?
And I think Lin's biggest problem is sometimes he is one of the best players on the court but instead of putting the team on his back and making plays, he inexplicably holds back and seems to give the ball to guys that aren't as good at some of what he does to do. It's like he doesn't know or respect his own talent.

Worrying it might turn into a TO is a big part of the reason that is happening.

He is getting better now, but let's see if he can have few TOs and at the same time be freely playing his game at his best.

He is really shutting down his opponents these days.

Would be interesting later on when he's tasked with guarding the best guard the whole game.

Just by watching his D, we know that Cliff/Silas are much better than the "effort, effort, whip, whip" BS and McDumbBell. Great to see Jeremy grow so rapidly.

Lin's D has been solid but his shot has been off even his free throws wtf. I didn't think he played that well within the flow of the offense tonight which was quick ball movement but whatever...not a biggie since we blew them away. As long as he doesn't lay an egg and the team wins, I'm happy. He still needs to put it together one game at a time.
