Re: Luka Doncic
I'd say that the biggest knock on him is that he doesn't look anywhere near NBA fast. But there's plenty of time for him to improve on that.

Re: Luka Doncic
Doncic is playing better at 16 than Hezonja at 19 at this level. Luka has better shooting %, better FT %, better handles, is better team defender and there is no comparison in court vision and play making ability. He is also a much better passer and rebounder than Hezonja and he is 4 years younger. The only thing that Hezonja has on Doncic is athletic ability but even in that department it will be pretty close once Doncic develops physically. I wouldnt compare the two, they play different positions but clearly Doncic is a much better prospect than Hezonja ever was. Hezonja was hyped by the NBA scouts because of his smooth jumper and his dunks, otherwise his skill set is nowhere near Doncic.

Seriously, try to get your facts straight.
Like I said, he only has played Euroleague in either garbage time, or when Real Madrid had injuries and therefore had to play him. He has not played at all unless Rudy Fernandez or Jeff Taylor were out with injuries.
And the Euroleague regular season (it's not an actual "regular season", but just the first group stage) has at this point in time become even more meaningless and irrelevant than the NBA regular season.
To be perfectly honest about it, the first group stage of the Euroleague has become an absolute joke. And that is the reason why the Euroleague is removing it entirely starting next season, and just immediately starting the season at the Top 16 stage. Because the current first group stage is horribly bad basketball.
To be using games played at that time of the season in Euroleague, games played only in Spanish League with a team that can't lose even playing a high school kid (Spanish League these days isn't even comparable to a league like Turkish League), and games played only in Euroleague due to the 2 main wing players on the team being injured (Fernandez and Taylor) is really an enormous stretch.
There are several players in Europe at high school age that could be doing similar to what Doncic is doing in the same situation. He does not even play with any pressure at all, because Real Madrid has none in Spanish League to lose games, and because in Euroleague no one is expecting them even to have to make it to Top 16 with their injuries and lack of depth at the big positions. This is a team that at the moment is almost half the quality it was in previous seasons.
And all Doncic has to do is play off of the other players in Real, and not worry about any game planning or focus from the other team, and of course zero scouting from the other team. You actually think the opposition is worried about Doncic instead of Sergio Rodriguez, Felipe Reyes, Jaycee Carroll, Sergio Llull, and several other players?
He's the absolute least of any concern for every single opposing team, coach, defense.
This already turned into another ridiculous over hype thread.
He's clearly a really good talent and player, but the hype meter is ludicrous, it is even nearing the absurdity of the hype meter on Rubio, when he was giving 5 points and 3 assists in Euroleague, and people were claiming he was "best player in Europe".
I automatically know from these kinds of threads who has actually seen any of these games, and who has not.

Fist of all, I have seen every minute of every game of Real in Euroleague and ACB so I know what I am talking about.
And secondly, are you serious or just trolling? And I am not even talking about Doncic, most of the things you are saying are just ridiculous. I mean you said nobody expects Real to get into top 16 because of 1 or 2 injuries?? Real has to qualify for top 16 even if half of its team is injured.

Of course I'm serious. Anyone claiming Doncic is the best guard in Europe, anyone defending that claim, anyone implying that same thing, anyone calling out someone who questions such statements is making ludicrous level posts here.
I am sure it qualifies as even being in the realm of pure trolling. I don't need to say anything more on the matter, because it is that simple. It's just that things like that should be pointed out when they come in threads.

Nobody is saying that he is the best guard in Europe, where did you read that??? We are saying he is the best in his class in Europe and he can play quality minutes in the Euroleague at 16 years old. Also nobody is saying ACB is second best league in the world. 2nd best league is Euroleague, again you making things up or you dont understand what we are saying.

my bets are on the latter. he's the infamous spanoulis fan with unparalled IQ.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I wouldn't even bother with him anymore, since he has shows many times that he has serious reading comprehension problems, so it's a waste of time.
He does often have a point, I mostly agree with him every time he shows up in those nonsensical NCAA vs. Euroleague threads, but his lack of reading comprehension is really hard to overcome, as perfectly shown yet again by this:
I guess that even having 192 IQ (if I remember correctly) cannot help with that.

I get that you don't want to hype a 16 years old kid too much, but come on you're being ridiculous saying that several players could be doing what he's doing at his age :
- First, if several players could do it, why don't they ? I mean, he's probably the second player ever to have so much PT in pro leagues (ACB and Euroleague) and being productive so young.
- For comparison, he's the same age as Jaylen Hoard (viewed as one of the top french prospects at the wing) who's getting minutes on the french 3rd division. He's a year younger than Ntilikina (french best prospect in a while at the PG slot) who's barely getting minutes in french 1st division. He's two years younger than Korkmaz, a top turkish prospect that's arguably on the same level right now.
So you have 2 options : either there's a worldwide plot not to play young players, which plot Doncic miraculously escaped, or he's just way better than the other players. And I'm not even saying he's gonna be a huge NBA star, I don't know about that and sometimes the best 16 year old player doesn't develop into the best 25 year old player, but right now he's ridiculously ahead of any kid his age (at least in Europe). Period.

I don't know if you know it but mirotic12 is a legendary troll known in the Basketball forums under several names like Europeanprospects, Euroleage, KWSN-Men and so on. There is no point in arguing with him. Every international Basketball Forum I know of he's there trolling. Or he is serious with his claims like Spanoulis would be the 2nd best player in the NBA and such, I still don't know.

Some exhibition stuff from Doncic yesterday. He came when Madrid was up by 30, so he only played in garbage time with no competitive edge from the opponents, but it was still fun to watch. Was like an all-star game hehe, with both teams playing some nice stuff for the fans. Doncic had 7 assists in 13 minutes, some nice alleyop passes. I have ti say I'm surprised at his ball handling, really much better than expected, really made strides this year. He's one of those fun to watch type of players.

I 've been impressed by his ball handling too, even if it was some "hourra basket". His court vision, skills, team IQ are already elite at the european level

Re: Luka Doncic
As I already said here, the only reason Doncic has gotten any playing time is because Jeff Taylor and Rudy Fernandez got injured, and so they had to play him. Since Fernandez is out for an extended period of time, Doncic was just filling in until Real Madrid could sign another player to take Rudy's minutes.
Now they have, as they signed K.C. Rivers to do just that.
So all the fantasies being discussed here about Doncic can stop for now.

Whatever way you turn it, Doncic showed (even if he played only due to injuries, who cares besides you) in the minutes he got, that he is a real talent. For a 16 year old kid to do all that he's done is remarkable and puts him in the same brackets with the best 16 year olds to ever play profesionally.
Now piss off if all you can contribute to this thread is why and how Doncic gets minutes. It's about substance, you troll.

Best 16 year old in the game for sure. Every time he checks in the game, he belongs, doesn't look like out of place 16 year old project.

I already said he is the best guard in Europe at his age, and he's almost 17, so constantly saying he's 16 is a bit misleading. In USA, he would be classed as a high school junior, not a sophomore (which people are implying here that he's like a sophomore).
I am not trolling, I am pointing out facts. That he only played due to injuries, and his team already signed a new player so they can take his minutes other than garbage time. And just pointing out he is not the best guard in Europe, or best player on his team, which WAS claimed in this thread right here, even though now some people are trying to deny that it was.
For simply pointing out facts, I am not a troll.
Just go look back at the threads here on Nikola Mirotic and Mario Hezonja (everyone here can do so) and you can see I was right in those threads about both of those players, and tons of people who argued with me in those threads and claimed what I was saying not true, were clearly proven wrong. I was being called a "troll" also in those threads, for simply being truthful and objective. It's funny how no one bumps those threads now, when calling me a "troll" here.
