Thanks, as always, DirtyBird.

This forum has fallen on hard times.

I noticed a huuuuge decrease in posting/membership after Smoove left. We had a bit of an upswing last season as we exceeded expectations and got some positive attention.

But man...I'd wager we have barely a dozen active posters left. And you're like the only one who puts forth the effort to create a game thread. :-?

Anyways...here's hoping we can pull out a tough win on the 2nd night of a back to back.

Oklahoma City enters Thursday's game as the No. 2 rebounding team in the league. However, in the first meeting between these two teams this season, it was the Hawks that came away with the rebounding edge 51-48 and a 106-100 victory. The Hawks will need a similar effort in Thursday's game if they hope to escape with a victory.

Another area of concern for the Hawks against the Thunder is rotating out to their three-point shooters. The Thunder come into Thursday's game seventh in the league in three-point percentage. Atlanta ranks in the bottom third of the league in opponent's three-point percentage.

No problem, but we aren't the only slow ones for game threads, and they have the stars.

Smoove, maybe I guess people liked to pick on him so much and lost interest.

Tough game tonight, in OKC, where you can always expect their fans to create a college type atmosphere. Gonna be difficult but hopefully we beat them there the way we beat them here.

OT: I would love to see Sheldon Mack get more burn, I mean it isn't like he's some scrub wth no experience. Plus I think Dennis and Teague would benefit from a couple of extra minutes of rest. And also Walter needs to get his feet wet, we could see a Gobart type player in him. Just FYI. As for the game, bout what I expected and that's why the Dallas win was huge.

If schroder is still looking like this at allstar break, we probably need to make a move for a backup point. We don't even need a big hitter, we need someone that can hold it down until Teague gets back in the game and Schrider has just simply not had it through the first quarter of the season. Still remaining optimistic.

This season I have found myself questioning Als consistent effort....never thought I would say that.

That said, 2nd night of a back to back...cant win them all.

And I'm struggling to figure out why. This has NEVER been an issue for the guy. Not in the pros or college.

I wonder if Millsap's emergence or his focus on perimeter play has taken him out of his game this season.

myAJC Game Notes:

  • Al Horford had his streak of 23 consecutive double-digit scoring games snapped with a nine-point night
  • Every Hawks player was a minus on the night, except for Horford who was zero.
  • The Hawks were outrebounded 52-34.
  • All of the 12 rebounds by the Thunder’s Kevin Durant with defensive boards

Report card

Offense: C-minus

Credit the Hawks for nearly erasing a 17-point deficit. However, some fault in falling in the early hole was on the offense that went through several scoring droughts that enabled Thunder runs. The Hawks had a 21-point second quarter and a 19 point fourth-quarter. After shooting 66.8 percent in the first quarter, the Hawks shot 38.7 percent the rest of the game.

Defense: C-minus

The Hawks’ defense takes some of the blame for the Thunder runs – early in the game and after they pulled to within striking distance. After the Thunder opened with a 35-point first quarter, the Hawks held them to 25, 23 and 24 point periods. The Hawks let Serge Ibaka get away from them for 23 points, including 17 in the first half. In addition, the Thunder shot 53 percent from 3-point range.

It'll be dumb to trade Dennis and his potential for a back up point guard. He's having an up and down season bit he's still only 22. He will have great nights like he did against Dallas then stinkers like he did against OKC. If we trade Dennis, you need to get a quality starter in the deal, not a backup PG.

Exactly. This is year three....and he has played like poop. But at 22 he still gets a bit of leeway amid understandable growing pains.

The clock is ticking...no doubt. But we're still only two years and one month into his career.

If we do make a move for another backup PG... Please get a fricking vet to mentor Dennis.

And dump Shelvin. It's clear he isn't in our future plans.
