Yay! Let's do that....because your "offense" doesn't work with a bunch of mid-range brick layers.

We have a problem finishing, we don't have very good finishers at the basket. We have difficulty with length at the rim and it exacerbates those finishes at the rim. What happens is when we're not finishing (frequently) = we take poor shots (payton jumpers, off balance, long 2's, etc). The system is fine and dandy, but when you have a stud 3 point shooter (hezonja) not getting passed to when he's wide open and Oladipo's hoisting contested jumpers, it's the coach's job to tweak the offense and police up his ball handlers to swing the ball when defenses sag.

EP needs to be more assertive. What he's doing is working for the most part... We just need more of it.

Tobias needs to trim some of that extra muscle. It has slowed him down and now he's not even playing PF very often.

Vuc needs to be more active defensively. Not sure if the injury is still bothering him or not.

Mario needs more minutes. We're probably not going to make the playoffs anyway with how improved the east is. We need to develop him.

AG needs to be more aggressive on offense. He passes up open shots...

Hennigan may need to shake this roster up... We have talent... It just doesn't mix well it appears. Not sure what I would do though.

Agree with all of this.

As for the Hennigan aspect of it....I think Tobias & Dipo are two guys that could find themselves in some trade discussions. Both are quality young players but their inability to perform on a consistent basis is hurting this team. Also, if we really want to get behind Elf, he needs guys that can consistently stretch the floor. Dipo and Harris are not doing that for us...and I'm not sure they ever really will.

Personally, I'd like to see Tobias sent out for a role playing SF forward that can stretch the floor + a decent future pick. I don't think that is asking much and while he is a good talent...I just don't see what he provides this team. Where does he make us better?

While I was big on Dipo prior to drafting him, I do believe he has 6th man written all over him and I'm glad he's already been put in that role. He just doesn't fit with Elf. That being said...I still think he actually gives this team something positive...compared to Tobias who is just kind of out there.

It would be nice to see the CJ Watson we all thought we signed, healthy and able to knock down some long jumpers to balance out the PG position. He hasn't been able to do that yet...hopefully he heals properly and can get that J going.

Oladipo:

Pull up jumper :banghead:
Open Hezonja :banghead:
The future is bright 8-) Payton said. ``I just want to keep getting better and maybe one day I can be the all-time all assists leader for the Magic.’’

I'm a believer that the ability to finish in the NBA takes a little time. Compared to college...players are faster, defenses rotate quicker, big men are more active, your one-on-one defender will challenge harder, more contact is allowed, and young players get very little respect when taking it to the hoop. However, I think that Payton, Dipo, and Gordon will eventually gain the ability and reputation to adjust to the NBA game and consistently finish at the rim. That being said, one big challenge that Elf faces is that he is a poor free throw shooter. If I am playing defense and my man beats me to the hoop...you can bet your ass I'm going to foul him before letting him get a layup, if I know he makes a poor percentage of free throws.

I agree with all of this. Our starters gave us 28 points tonight. Harris is a really bad shooter along with Dipo. Those are the two guys that were supposed to go to the next level. I doubt that they ever will.

I do have to say after getting that big deal. Tobias Harris truly was a waste of money. I am going to continue to put the magic on ignore for awhile. They are a waste of time.

Yikes. And just when it looked like we were turning a corner picking up streaks and blowouts we haven't seen since 2011 or 2012.

Sports are weird.

Draymond wouldn't play on this roster because he "isnt a great shooter" according to people.

If Tobias Harris can be a playmaker at the power forward position he will be raw but it's sad to say he don't have that skill set

Frye it's final, you not starting anymore, you not a 3point threat anymore, and your jump shot expired long time ago it's time to seat at the end of the bench and just wait til you get traded

What's that Hezonja, the 1 is your natural position, you played it almost all the time in Croatia and Barcelona??

The rise of Hezonja begins Monday. We need his shooting because our current rotation cant shoot for ish. Evan is struggling, Oladipo inconsistent, and the rest are just arent shooters. Cavs are in another level and tonite shows that we are nowhere ready to take on those teams. Improved from last year, but still long way to go.

We need to get some consistent offense from these some of these guys. As long as he can play decent defense and stay out of foul trouble, Hezonja should get more minutes. Anything to remove Frye from the rotation. He is just horrible.
