Oladipo- 4.2 3PAs a game. Shooting 26.5%.

I normally subscribe to positive thinking, but I'm so mad at what we put out there. We should have went at them when James tweaked his ankle, instead we went scoreless, then he comes in and bullies. Momentum is key! No nuts from our guys tonight. I'm with the crowd that we need to hand the keys to Payton, Gordon, and Hezonja, and I like Oladipo off the bench, he's a Magicman too me. The rest I'd get their trade value assessed and up after a couple of game winning streak and move them on. Vucevic, Fournier, and Harris (16M for?) should get us something nice. Frye we can get something at the deadline if the timing is right, this was a bad showing though. People have said it, BALANCE!

Payton/CJ/Napier
Hezonja/Oladipo
Gordon
Nicholson
Smith/Dedmon

Oladipo 6th man

That's my rotation from now plus who we can pick up in any move

I've been disappointed in Vucs softness. He can't do a thing when it gets physical. These guys all need to find a shooting coach. God we are just bad shooters which Henny knew but the great defense can not overcome our horrible shooting. If this keeps up then I'm down with starting the young guys for a while.

thelead wrote:Starters - Elf, Mario, AG, AN, Vuc
Bench - Dipo, Evan, Tobias, Frye, Smith

Took me a while to come up with that... We have issues with this roster and Hennigan must address them. The only (high impact) guy I would consider a 2-way player is Elf and that depends on the night. Smith is also a 2-way player but he obviously isn't high impact. Andrew is close so he makes my starting 5. So, what we're left with is a ton defense-only or offense-only guys.

The other issue is the amount of guys that need to dominate the ball to get into rhythm (Dipo, Evan, Tobias) which happen to be guys that play together with a pass first pg that also needs the ball to be effective (but he's a pg so he gets a pass on that one).

So my rationale for the starter is, Elf is likely our best player (potentially), he needs a shooter by his side (Hezonja), AG then gets the nod at SF because he can be the secondary ball handler with great passing and rebound (in other words, a glue guy), AN for being an all-around PF, and Vuc for his shooting and rebounding (I did contemplate Smith here for his D and J).

The bench would be a mess. Dipo running the point, Evan needing his touches, Tobias needing his touches, who knows what Frye will do (besides fouling after a TO), and Smith (very little to complain about with Jason). In fact, let me sub out Frye, place Smith at PF and place Dedmon at the backup C.

I'd love to see that. Although winning was the thing for me I now surrender and would love to see AG and Mario start. Let's see what they got as it can not be much worse than the supposed starters. Frye Harris and Fournier have disappeared.

Ahem

Oh... and AG is up to 36.6% on non-heave 3 pointers in case anyone was wondering. Now if we could just get him to do something other than stand in a corner and look to pass it off as soon as he gets it or hesitate on an open shot and attempt a tougher one.

Speaking of point differential, Memphis is -5.3 with a 13-11 record in the West. Sports are weird.

Shooting coach and a sport's psychologist. I think something has screwed with Victor psychologically. They aren't having fun anymore, even when they win, and he doesn't play well when he's not having fun. I can't believe that they can't work with them on their shooting issues to fix this!

It's like Skiles is the coach from Remember the Titans and Victor is Petey.

Coach Boone: Not anymore though, is it? *Is* it?
Petey Jones: Not right now, no.
Coach Boone: No, it's not fun anymore. Not even a little bit.
Petey Jones: Uh... no.
Coach Boone: Make up your mind. Think since you're thinking. Go on, think. Is it fun?
Petey Jones: No, sir.
Coach Boone: No? Absolutely not?
Petey Jones: Zero fun, sir.

I don't think it's just him either that it's bugging.

Bad loss. Schedule loss too. I really hope this loss, lights a fire under this team. Cavs celebrating like they won the championship after every shot. Good job beating the magic in a regular season game. You guys are so great. This is probably why your team is cursed. Show some class. Act like you've been here before.

Vooch was giving them a dirty look, wish he did something on the court though.

Can not agree with you anymore but I will also gauge Oladipo's value and if the right deal came along I will ship his ass as well. Payton is the closest thing we have to a star and plays hard EVERY single night regardless of his play on BOTH ends of the floor. Hezonja just needs time and I mean that in both regards, time to continue to develop and actual "real time" on the court. Gordon should be easily starting over Harris/Frye.

I said it once I'll say it again, THROW THE FARM AT SAC FOR COUSINS.

Rant over.

I do agree. Playing basketball looks like a chore to our starters. Never mind being paid to do it. They look miserable win or lose and Vic is wearing it all over his face. Such a shame

Those numbers for AG wouldn't hold up, if past is any indication.

We are getting spacing, the issue is nobody is hitting the open shots.

Bringing AG in to be a spark of defensive energy is the right move at this point in his development. His offense, and confidence in his offense, is lacking at the moment. He's a young guy, there's no need to force his progression.

We're on track to have a better than .500 record this year, nobody predicted this for us. Enjoy the ride. :D

I wouldn't overreact here. We aren't going from bottom dwellers to contenders in 1 season. We'll have to be mediocre first. Like I said earlier in the season, we will probably do a decent job of handling the average-below average teams. Get to the really good teams we will struggle, although we will probably surprise a few of them.

We do really need to start playing AG and Mario a lot though...they are key to the future.

They need the basketball equivalent of Joe Maddon. He knows how to coach young players and then the Vets want to come and join in! The Cubs are signing big time free agents this off season. Like he says, "Don't let the pressure exceed the pleasure."

I would agree. You add Ben Zobrist a proven gamer to a core of Bryant, Schwarber, and Rizzo and your team is going to go places. Let alone adding J Hey.

In my mind there's a great deal of opportunity cost with Scott Skiles. What's not to say we didn't miss out on a hiring competent coach who could bring us to .500 AND knows how to tailor the game to the young fellas. If 500 ball and no fun is all Skiles brings to Orlando I don't know what to tell everyone. NBA is an entertainment business

I'm thinking Fournier might be moved maybe even at the deadline, AG moves into the starting lineup because even with Frye's "Spacing" it's doing nothing noticable. With Fournier traded AG moves into the starting lineup and Hezonja assimilates AG's former spot in the bench rotation now that he's starting. We need to get these top 5 overall picks involved in the offense somehow, these are the guys we tanked for.....it's crazy that they're pretty much bystanders in this offense.

Ah yes, I remember BMP blasting folks in preseason for commenting on cousins' new found love for tge 3pt line... saying he wouldn't take them in regular season. Meanwhile it's midway through December and he's averaging four 3pt attempts per game lol.
