Did you also not give Kemba the gold that other game he had 30+ points? I remember somebody doing that.

Jeremy did well in this game, but no way he was better than Kemba. Kemba was far and away the best player tonight. Jeremy was huge in digging out of the hole and getting the lead started. However, Kemba played amazing the entire time he was on the court. He was the only one scoring early when we dropped by like 10 and basically kept us from dropping 20 behind. He was crucial in getting that 20 point lead in the second half to make it a comfortable blowout.

Gold: KemVP
Played out of his mind. There was a point in the 4th where he got a little shot happy but he reeled it in quickly and started playing in the flow of the team again. The shooting was nice, but it was two or three really sweet passes that stood out to me.

Silver: JLin
Kid was everywhere. Played a total floor generals game on both ends directing traffic like a champ. Worked the Memphis D and had them in fits. Pushed the pace so well and was smothering on D.

Bronze: Frank
This was a really close call for me but I went with the rook. As others pointed out he took a beating and bounced back nicely. Loved his passing and activity. Certainly seems like a player who becomes more comfortable the longer he is in the game. Still a little hesitant to pull the trigger but he's getting there.

Without Lin's effort in the first half there wouldn't even have been a game. Kemba did have helleva game, and most of the voters have acknowledged that, but I don't think arguing that Lin changed the direction of the game is a completely groundless argument.

Kemba
Batum

Wish I could give one to Frank, but those three turned it around for us.

We are all easily to love players who can score 30,40 per games. But players' true impacts on the game can be more correctly compared based on the advanced data and the roles they played. Lin's NetRtg is 40 and Kemba is 26 for the game It means the team has much higher net scores with Lin. The reason is simple, much of Lin's contributions is more than his scores - such as blocks, steals, assists, forcing TOs, rebounds which made team net scores higher. Bench 21 free throws , starters only 6. If you watched the game, you should notice that half of his teammate FTs were resulted from Lin's great passes. Besides the data, do we agree the turning point of the game was Lin toke the charge after starters lost 11 pts with little defense?

While we're nitpicking hammers, I notice that a couple of posters didn't reward Lin with his fine performance. To each their own :)

lin
Kemba
Batum

i'm giving Lin top billing due to his contributions came at the time the team needed to turn the momentum around. Kemba is obvious, great shooting and Batum just solid all around and hit a bunch of 3s in the 3rd.

oh yes, HM to Frank. The best big man on the court, tough dealing with a big man knocking down 3s and fighting on the boards while playing solid defense.

My 2 cents on Kemba is he was the beginning of the comeback. Kemba was really the only one hitting shots when the deficit occurred and did keep the Hornets from going down further. This gave Lin and the bench the momentum and a smaller hole to dig out of. Kemba could get the gold but I felt like giving it to Lin because he kind of really propelled the momentum from there to a winning game. But then Kemba came in and just put them all away in the 3rd helped by Batum's 3s while Frank was that solid big man taking a beating and giving one with his points and defense all along. Kemba also helped settling things down when they got a bit disorganized in the 4th.

Points are an interesting topic. At the end of the day, I prefer a balanced attack in scoring but so much factors in to wins. But at the end of the day, whoever outscores the other wins the game, so points matter. My ideal game key players Batum, Kemba, Lin and Lamb score around 18 each, so the team isn't over reliant on any particular scorer. But the game flows in a way and sometimes someone catches fire. It's stupid basketball not to have that person then score as much as they can if they get good shots. And Kemba's shots were mostly good.

Then you can have situations where one guy scores in the high 20s or 30s one game, another the next, another the next. So say, Kemba then Batum then Lamb and then maybe Lin in the lower 20s while dishing out assists or leading to fouls. Leading to fouls is important because it gets the other team over the limit so that any foul is a pair of FTs. That's what Lin does well. Each guy can have a particular strength leading to a synergy and this team is looking good. I didn't mention Frank and Marv and such, and of course Cody, but they all do things that lead to this synergy.
