Best minutes I've seen from PJ in a few games. He earned his time tonight.

I have nothing against Memphis however I'll never forget that game we played against them a few years ago when it was a layup line against us. Rudy Gay pretty much did whatever he wanted and we didn't do a damn thing about it and they beat us by about 7,000 points. It was a demoralizing loss as a fan and one that's always stuck with me.

That's why victories like this one are that much sweeter to me.

could it be the time Biz and Rudy Gay got into a scuffle? Biz reportedly trash talked about this being his house and Gay replied that "you're 10-50" or whatnot, "this is everyone's house".

I was rooting for them to lose by that point since they were a lame duck team.

It was a Game 7 loss against Milwaukee. I have that game in my collection.

Dream season thus far. We’re the best team in the history of teams. 3 playoff contenders, 3 blowouts. Suck it, mainstream media.

Hansborough should see minutes before Al.

The knock on Tank when he came into the league is that he would be awful on D. The reality appears to be that Kaminsky is a very good defender. I don’t know how many others have noticed him guarding 3’s, but he seems to fare well and is always in the right place. Tremendous IQ. Maybe Lamar can quantify it, but the eye test suggests that he is far from a limitation.

The Grizz announcers are great - low key, knowledgeable, and fair. “I don’t know if Al Jefferson helps them.”

I’m convinced that Hairston is a mindgame – we’re going to throw the suckiest player in the world into our starting lineup so you feel overly confident.

Is Lin a 1920’s accountant now? #FreeTheTekken.

Heck of a game, and following up on a fine streak. I could care less how much media this team gets. They need few distractions. Still in development mode. We're going to see some stinker games too. But, I am very happy to see how well they have come together.

Al belongs with Memphis, or some team still playing grind and pound. Shame he s**t the bed as a doper; he was difficult to dump before, and is radioactive now.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

According to the Charlotte Observer piece on the game, the Hornets set a new franchise record by 3 extra makes from beyond the arc.

Charlotte Observer wrote:The Hornets set a franchise record Friday by making 18 3-pointers. The previous record was 15. Nine different Hornets made at least one 3.

Ah, yes, that's right. I just remember game 6 vividly. That was the game we had a chance to win and the refs screwed us royally, like they did often back in the 90s when officiating was horrible. Game 7 went back to Milwaukee.

I have no idea how that game looked like, but for what it's worth they took 26 free throws in game 6, we took 43. They had 30 fouls, we had 18.

According to the play-by-play, Ray Allen put them up by 3 with a long-range jumper with 27 secs left. Baron had tied the game with a three of his own the previous possession.

But, damn.. Game 6, at home. Biggest loss in franchise history?

Need to see them maintain this level (not the blowouts, staying a few games above .500) thru that brutal Jan/Feb before I am ready to put them in the conversation with the good Hornets teams from the 90s and early 00s.

92-93 - Bogues, Gill, Newman, Johnson, Mourning + Curry, Gattison - 44 wins, lost to Knicks in 1st
94-95 - Bogues, Hawkins, Burrell, Johnson, Mourning + Curry - 50 wins, lost to Bulls in 1st.
96-97 - Bogues, Pierce, Rice, Mason, Divac + Curry - 54 wins, lost to Knicks in 1st
97-98 - Wesley, Phills, Rice, Mason, Divac + Curry, Gieger - 51 wins, lost to Bulls in 2nd
99-00 - Wesley, Jones, Phills*, Mason, Campbell + Baron, Coleman, Ricky Davis, Miller - 49 wins, lost to Sixers in first.
00-01 - Baron, Wesley, Mashburn, Brown, Campbell + Coleman, Robison - 46 wins, lost to bucks in 2nd

All of those teams were damn good teams.

The 92-93 of course had the most potential with pre-injury LJ and they were all so young. Sadly Gill couldn't handle being 3rd wheel, LJ got hurt and Zo didn't get his money. Probably the most explosive offensive team we've ever had in Charlotte and by far the most fun to watch. The 94-95 team is a watered down version with a ailing LJ and Hawkins in place of Gill.

The 96-97 had the double monster years from Rice and Mason. Probably the best trio Charlotte has ever had in a year if you include Divac. But that team had no depth and a big hole at pg once Bogues was dealing with knee problems. They fell apart at the end of the year. The same team the next year lost to the Champs in the 2nd round and played well in that series.

The 99-00 to me is the best team Charlotte has ever had on paper and the ultimate "what could have been" team. They were so freaking deep it was crazy. But of course, this team was cursed, Phills died, Eddie Jones bolted, Coleman was a drunk and our cheap owner couldnt keep them all together. If Phills doesn't die, this team wins 55+ and probably doesnt have to face the Bulls in the 2nd round, but in the EC finals.

The 00-01 team was probably the team that best peaked in the playoffs and if we took all Charlotte teams at the time of the playoffs, I'd take this team to beat all the others. Swept the Heat in blowouts, then lost to Bucks in 6 games due to some god awful officiating. I refuse to talk about that 01-02 team. The 92-93 team had a fun factor that I don't know we can ever match now, no matter how successful we get.

Only a true, legit SUPERSTAR could bring that kind of excitement to the franchise again.

Steph Curry would have been the ticket. Maybe he'll come home some day, but whenever I've heard people interviewed on the topic, it sounds doubtful.

Its been a long time, but if I remember correctly, it was a couple of really soft fouls against PJ Brown that sunk us. He was the backbone of our defense and rebounding. We were up in the 3rd and he got into foul trouble and had to sit and they made a run after that. I think that is why that particular game was so frustrating, because we were the better team, we were at home, and were playing better and still lost. IT was a long long time ago, but I still have friends that talk about the officiating in the 3rd quarter of that game. Maybe we just all imagined it.

(edit: see how memories can confuse the fact - it was Elden Campbell that got in foul trouble that game. Man,I really need to rewatch this game.)

I think game 2 (charlotte lost by 1 in Milwaukee) might have been another game that series that had some questionable calls, but who knows.

I seem to remember Coleman getting in trouble during that series as well. Maybe he walked off the court and got a tech or something.

David Wesley is my forever impression of the old hornets, now he is a color commentator for the Pelicans..

I remember Game 6 and Game 7. I was so upset, because I knew the Hornets were leaving. I thought getting to the finals could save our team. And we had a good chance, just choked in Game 6. SI Cover curse, they put Baron on the cover right before Game 6.

IIRC we were up and Game 6 and choked it away. I remember getting into fights with the Bucks fans on the ESPN message boards... my earliest forum experience (I was 13-14 lol)
