Re: Is Kieff dogging it?
I can't help but think if Kieff played for a HC that had a back bone, he would not even be in the rotation much less continue to be a starter.
Right now, Kieff is to the Suns what Josh Smith was to the Pistons. We may have to end up just releasing Kieff out right and eating the salary.
Haha where are those "We'll get good value for Kieff, just keep holding on to him for now" folks at?

Well they are (hopefully "were" at this point) in the front office and likely telling our coach to play him for that sake. Hopefully McD has realized that was another bad move of his and Kieff stays out with his "knee injury".

He doesn't care and it is so obvious.
Why should he care, he already got paid, he doesn't become a FA anytime soon and his boyfriend, my bad, I mean his brother got traded off the team so why put in any effort now?
Exactly.
I really think that in addition to all the above, he figured out that the best way to get reunited with his brother is to play like trash, kill his value, and thus the best offer (or only offer) will come from the Pistons.
He may be joking with teamates, but it is so obvious his head and heart isn't here.

Re: Is Kieff dogging it?
I think the best bet is for Kieff to remain "injured" for a while. Maybe he can have an extended flu or something. That way, his value isnt diminished more through fear of injury or being demoted to the end of the bench.
Honestly, I am wondering if this is more than anger or moping. I wonder if he is suffering from some sort of depression. You look at that "What are you thankful for at Thanksgiving " clip that had been posted on suns.com and he could hardly talk.

Re: Is Kieff dogging it?
Keef's best games came against the Spurs and Clippers.
Kinda like how his best game last year was against Kevin Love.
It's like he "gets up" for the big dawgs.
It's even more obvious this year. It's like he already made up his mind he was going to have a big game against San Antonio, and even though LMA didn't play, he was already in the positive mindset.
Ask anyone in sales or sports how powerful the mind is!
If his head isn't in the game and his heart isn't with the team, we will never win.

Re: Is Kieff dogging it?
i don't like ragging on people, but this is an interesting stat: of players who have played 15 or more games, Kieff has the 21st lowest Box Plus Minus (offensive and defensive) of any player in the league.
i would say this: don't count on him getting traded. but, imagine this is a ploy on Kieff's part. what if he's trying to get traded? in other words, don't count on him being here in March, either.

I wonder if we could move Kieff to Indiana for something. Maybe throw in Tucker and get Turner back somehow.

That was never the narrative. We were never going to good value by just holding him. For it to work, he'd need to play and play well. The hope was rather than selling low, we'd give him an opportunity to build his value up then sell him for some value. You know, like any good investment.

Yea but selling low looks a lot better than having to potentially give up assets to dump him which is what his current play may end up leading to.

I keep reading this and its just so very wrong. For Kieff to tank his value that much, he'd essentially have to go through an entire season of shooting this poorly. People around the league know he doesn't want to be here, and they know he has over 2 seasons of efficient play to weigh against what he's doing now. To believe his value has legitimately become negative would be to believe that he suddenly sucks at basketball or was lucky for 2 entire years, or was only good because of Marcus. It's just irrational. The facts are: the longer he plays like this, his value does decline, but his salary becomes more valuable as we get closer to the increasing cap, and his felony off-the-court issue becomes less of a hindrance as it gets closer to being resolved.
There are moving parts here, but the idea that he has negative value, and that we'd have to give up something else to move him, just flies in the face of all logic. People don't tank a 26 year old's value when he suddenly slumps with a team he doesn't want to play for. That just doesn't happen.

This. Nobody said, "Just hold him and watch him put up career lows and shoot 30% from the field and his stock will rise." His play has been unforseeably bad.

That's not really accurate, you can check the Kieff trade demand threads from the summer to see that there were folks who predicted that Kieff would come out and tank and play like s**t.

Right, but none of those people said he would tank an play like **** AND that his trade value would rise.

Pistons fans love Marcus
He's been playing well. Wasn't a good fit for the Suns though.

Do you think Kieff will go that far to put his career at risk? As i posted once before, in that process he will get hurt far more than the Suns. For the Suns, it would be just like every other dead weight contract in the league, which the team can absolutely live with. For the Kieff, it's his one and only career at stake. Suns have all the leverage here.
The Suns really don't have any leverage. Morris is the one demanding things not the Suns. You can't pick his value back up by not trading him...
Suns have all the leverage. When you have a player under contract for four years, the player doesn't have any leverage. He could refuse to play but that's not going to help his career. And that's not really even leverage anyway.
Not really.
Several teams that were interested in Morris said the asking price was still too high and that’s made the progression toward serious talks a slow-moving process, league sources told Yahoo.
Morris’ recent benching and suspension have also hurt Phoenix’s leverage in reaching a deal.

We can say it's to help him recover his form after nagging injuries, or something like that.
This is actually not a bad idea.
