Should the Patriots forget about a Super Bowl trip this season?

Post#1 » by DanielSan » Tue Dec 8, 2015 8:16 pm

I like to think so. They seem to be no match for the Broncos & Bengals (Jets fan here :naaa: )

What you think?

I think they'll still get there, I don't want to see them though.

LOL, a healthy Patriots team is still a level above anyone else in the league. With Gronk, Edelman, and a healthy offensive line come playoff time, they'll be just fine.

Ultimately, the only team I can see beating the playoff version of the Patriots is the Steelers. The only problem with that is they have not matched up well against the Patriots in the years since Belichick and Brady have been on their run. A slightly healthier Pats team without the handicap of a couple poor officiating calls would have beaten the Broncos. The Bengals, no matter how impressive this year, are still a wait-and-see team when it comes to postseason play. So, my Jets fan friend, if I were a betting man, I still say they are the safest bet to represent the AFC.

afc is garbage so they still have a shot to make it there. dalton is the worst playoff qb in history, so denver is the only threat if brock stays as qb.

Brock does make them a very complete football team. Manning has likely started his last game ever for the Broncos. Expect his foot to "not heal as quickly as we liked" in order to spare him the embarrassment of getting benched.

If they get their weapons back they'll be favored.

They also have some guy named Tommy Brady who's the best QB ever. Long as they have #12, they have a chance.

Never thought we had a chance this year and I still don't think we do.

I put in an early super bowl prop bet 3 weeks ago before New England's 2 game losing streak. Took Cincinnati. Don't believe Patsie's O-line is good enough come playoff time.

Well, with the demise of the Bengals and Broncos, I'm not sure who can beat them, though KC and Pitt are playing about as well as anyone in the AFC these days, so we will see. Heck, the Broncos could fall out of the playoffs. Improbable, but they don't have that easy of a schedule left. Granted, it would require KC, Pitt and NYJ to win out.

Steelers are the only team that has a chance to beat the Pats. Big Ben has won in Foxboro in the playoffs and they have the weapons to win a shootout.

Cincinnati still has a lot of weapons, does AJ have the skill to use them?

Yeah, the Steelers haven't beaten the Patriots in the Playoffs since 1998. Not saying they can't do it - they are a solid team. But the Steelers have only beaten Drew Bledsoe and Matt Cassell in New England.

Cincinnati is the best balanced team in the AFC IMHO. McCarron could be a blessing in disguise. Is he the next Stauach or Brady to come in and run the table to the Super Bowl? If he plays well and can handle the situation, the Bengals are for sure and afc finalist IF they get a first round bye.
